  • The STAR Awards is an annual event held by the Students' Association to celebrate the hard work and dedication of GCU students.

    Nomination Deadlines

    STAR Awards Ceremony

    The STAR Awards ceremony will be held in the Re:Union Bar & Grill and is taking place on Thursday 9th April 2026 at 6:30pm. 

    Tickets are £5, and this includes a complimentary drink, two course meal and awards ceremony.

  • GCU Student of the Year 2025/26

    The GCU Student of the Year Award is open to all current GCU students and is given to the student who has shown great commitment to Glasgow Caledonian University's motto: For the Common Good


    If you think that you know someone who is a current GCU student who deserves this prestigious award, then nominate them by filling out this form.

    You can also nominate yourself.

    The winner will receive a trophy, be recognised at a university event, and be featured in Students' Association and University online and printed articles.

     

    · Must be current GCU student

    · Can only be nominated once (no multiple submissions / multiple nominators)

    · One submission per applicant if self-nominating

    · Only nominations with a detailed explanation of why the nominee deserves the award will be considered (must include evidence/examples)

    Should you not be shortlisted your application may be put forward for the Lindsay Leadership Award at the panels discretion.

  • Lindsay Leadership Award 2025/26

    The Lindsay Leadership Award is open to any student who has completed the Student Leaders Programme and has demonstrated exceptional leadership ability.

    The Student Leaders programme is based on the Skills Development Scotland Skills 4.0 framework, which are classified under three headings: Self-Management, Social Intelligence, and Innovation. Each is made up of four capability areas (12 in total). 

    The online learning module in the Student Leaders Programme provides an overview of each of these areas.

    This student should be able to choose one of the Student Leader capabilities which they have developed through the Student Leaders Programme and be able to provide examples of this. 

    If you think you deserve this award, then nominate yourself by filling out this form.

    The winner will receive a cheque for £250 in addition to a trophy.

  • Representation Network of the Year 2025/26

    The representation network of the Year Award recognises student-led groups that meet the needs of a specific group of students at GCU 

  • Glasgow Academic Representative of the Year 2025/26

    The Academic Representative of the Year is the award for the academic representative who has made the biggest impact on the lives of the students that they represent.

    This award is open to Class Rep, Department Reps, PGT Reps and PGR Reps.

    Please note: This award is not open for self nomination

  • Society of the Year 2025/26

    The Society of the Year award is awarded to a society that has had an extraordinary year. Contributing factors include the number of activities, visibility and profile, interaction with members, social events, fundraisers and overall development.

  • Best New Society 2025/26

    Best New Society is awarded to a new society, affiliated in the last year, who has had an exceptional year. Contributing factors include the number of activities, visibility and profile, interaction with members, social events, fundraisers and overall development.

  • Society Event of the Year 2025/26

    This award is for a society-run event that was memorable; engaging and inclusive. The event should also have been advertised and communicated well.

  • Best Overall Contribution from a Society Committee Member 2025/26

     

    Best Overall Contribution from a Society Committee Member is an award to recognise a volunteer who has shown outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and reliability. 

    We welcome submissions from any society member or society committee member who wants to nominate a volunteer. However, you cannot nominate yourself.

  • Best Overall Contribution- The EDIT 2025/26

    This is an award to recognise the efforts made by a volunteer within The EDIT who has made an outstanding contribution to the magazine.

    In your nomination you should include as much detail as possible and any information you feel is relevant. 

  • Best Article-The EDIT 2025/26

    This award goes to the volunteer whose writing manifests excellence in the following areas: content currency, style, form, value to readers, and overall impression.

    In your nomination, you should try to include as much detail as possible and include any information you feel is relevant. 

  • Best Overall Contribution- Radio Caley 2025/26

    This award is given to the student radio station volunteer who has repeatedly performed across and above their assigned remit. They have continued to work selflessly over the duration of the year to enhance the reputation, infrastructure and community at the student radio station. They have never failed to amaze both staff and students with their dedication and the station has continued to thrive as a result of this individual's
    contribution.

  • Best behind the Mic- Radio Caley 2025/26

    This prestigious award goes to the most committed student radio station presenter. This individual or team has proven to demonstrate constant professionalism on air, accurately follows the radio guidelines and continually displays creative flare - cramming the radio station's airwaves with innovative show content.

    In your nomination you should include as much detail as possible and any information you feel is relevant. 

  • The Mental Health & Wellbeing Champion Award 2025/26

    This will be awarded to one individual or group who has influenced members of the GCU community to look after their mental health and physical wellbeing during the Coronavirus pandemic and beyond.
