March 2026 PostSecondary SIS Meeting
Learning Outcomes:
Identify at least three occupational therapy strategies to support job readiness for teens and young adults with disabilities in the post–high school period.
Describe key features of an OT‑supported community bakery model and explain how this type of setting can promote real‑world job skill acquisition.
Develop at least two measurable, occupation‑based goals for job readiness (for example, interviewing, task completion, workplace behaviors) that align with increasing independence.
Develop at least two measurable goals related to money management (for example, budgeting, purchasing, tracking earnings) that support functional independence in teens and young adults with disabilities.
This SIS meeting will focus on creative ways to support job readiness for individuals with disabilities, post-high school graduation. We will discuss a community bakery idea to support job skill acquisition in an OT supported setting. We will also discuss how to write goals for job readiness and money management to promote independence in teens and young adults with disabilities.
About the Speaker:
Veda Collmer is the founder of Autism Serices for Teens and Young Adults. Veda is a lawyer and an occupational therapist with more than 5 years helping teens and yound adults with disabilities achieve independence as they transition to adulthood.
Scott Peters is an OT student.
