  • 2026 SQ Towns & Bush Tagalong – 29 June to 13 July 2026

This 15-day Tagalong program is specifically structured to encourage participation from newer Club members. The event will commence with two nights of camping along the Dumaresq River in Texas, providing opportunities to visit both the Rabbit Museum and the Heritage & Tobacco Museum. Following this, the tagalong continues to St George, where members may explore the Riversands Winery, the Unique Egg, enjoy a cruise on the Balonne River, or participate in a Cotton Farm Tour.
After St George, the Ups & Downs Farm Stay, situated just outside Roma, is a welcoming spot featuring farm animals, Happy Hours with bonfires, and occasional live entertainment. In Roma, visitors can explore the Big Rig and Saleyards, where livestock sales are held regularly. Our next stop at Glebe Weir on the Dawson River, north-east of Taroom, is a spacious and scenic camping area that provides opportunities for fishing, water-skiing, and bird watching.
Next, we head to Mt Morgan, a historic gold-mining town where we'll stay for three nights. You  can still fossick for gold at No. 7 Dam and search for thunder eggs at nearby Mt Hay, not to mention exploring the town's historic museums and scenic lookouts. Our following stop is Eidsvold, where the R.M. Williams Bush Learning Centre is highly recommended to visit both during the day and at night. Tolderodden Conservation Park and Kirar Weir on the Burnett River are other worthwhile destinations, offering beautiful natural surroundings and walking trails.
Your last stop before heading home is at Barambah Bush Camp near Murgon is a scenic destination featuring diverse birdlife and wildlife on the property, as well as campfire facilities and a nine-hole golf course. The surrounding area offers several notable wineries, the Bjelke-Petersen Dam, and a Dairy & Heritage Museum, providing visitors with a range of recreational and cultural experiences.
Throughout this journey, you will have the opportunity to explore traditional country pubs, bakeries, wineries, op shops, and other attractions not commonly found in Brisbane or larger cities. Members are encouraged to research the destinations in advance, and suggestions or requests may be submitted to the Drover either prior to or during the Tagalong. We anticipate an enjoyable and engaging Tagalong experience with a dedicated group of Roustabouts.
