Eligibility:

The contest is open to all Heronswood Garden visitors, garden members, tribal members, PGST community and staff. Heronswood and Port Gamble S'Klallam Foundation staff may not participate.

Entry Period:

Entries will be accepted beginning in 2026, with the deadline to submit photos set for October 18, 2026. Winners will be announced in November 2026.

Submission Limits:

Entrants may submit up to 3 images.

Photo Requirements:

• Photos must be taken at Heronswood Garden during the 2026 calendar year.

• Each photo must be high resolution (e.g., minimum 4000 pixels on at least one side, or the full image from a 12MP camera).

• Photos must be submitted in JPEG format with a high-quality setting.

• Only standard optimization techniques are allowed (cropping, minor color and

contrast adjustments, saturation, sharpening). No compositional changes or

combinations of images are permitted.

Rights:

• The entrant must have personally taken the photo(s) and hold all rights to their

distribution and use.

• All images submitted become the property of Heronswood Garden for use in social

media and other promotional purposes, with credit given to the photographer

whenever possible.

• Entrants must obtain written consent from all people in the photo, or from their

parents or guardians if they are minors, must be submitted with your registration,

emailed to info@heronswoodgarden.org.

JUDGING AND WINNER SELECTION

Judging Criteria:

Photos will be judged based on creativity, originality, and composition.

Winner and prize:

Each entrant can only win once. Selected judges will choose 12 finalists for Heronswood Garden 2027 yearly calendar, and in addition to that, 12 finalists will have their winning photos exhibited throughout the garden. Each winner will receive a $60 gift card that can be used toward a Garden membership or any other purchase of their choice at Heronswood Garden, and a free 2027 Heronswood Garden calendar. Out of the 12 finalists, there will be an overall winner whose photo will featured on the front cover of the Heronswood Garden calendar.

RIGHTS TO ALL PHOTOGRAPHS:

• All images become the property of Heronswood Garden.

• Heronswood Garden reserves the right to use photos for display and promotion.

• The entrant’s entry form/registration agreement constitute a release for

Heronswood Garden to use, reproduce, publish, and display the photographs

without compensation.

• Photo credit will be given wherever possible.

• 12 finalists will be featured on Heronswood Garden’s website, social media, etc.

Judges:

Voted on by judges. Overall winner will be selected by the Chairperson of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe.

With your signature below, you grant Heronswood Garden and Port Gamble S’Klallam Foundation, permission to use photographs for any legal use, including but not limited to publicity, copyright purposes, illustration, advertising and web content.

Furthermore, you understand that no royalty, fee or other compensation shall become payable to you by reason of such use.
