WELCOME! THANK YOU FOR APPLYING.
The José Limón Dance Foundation preserves the culturally diverse artistic and educational ethos established by its founder, choreographer and dancer José Limón, who is credited with creating one of the world’s most important and enduring dance legacies.
The Limón Institute is dedicated to stewarding that Legacy and cultivating a truly wide range of emerging artists as they enter the field of professional dance, despite the increasingly steep financial barrier faced by emerging dancers.
The Foundation’s second company, Limón2, was launched in 2021 with the goal of preparing early career dance professionals for a sustainable, long-lasting career in the dance world.
L2 consists of both Fellows and Company Dancers. All Limón2 members will receive access to class, mentorship opportunities, and performance stipends. Second Company Dancers pay a highly subsidized tuition for the season ($4,000).
The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts will support up to four Kenan Arts Fellows @ Limón – an opportunity designed for recent alumni from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to deepen their professional development and lasting contributions to the dance world. Graduates from the Classes of 2021–2026 are eligible for this second round of support.
Kenan Arts Fellows will be enrolled in Limón2 tuition-free for one season and be paid a $500 monthly stipend for 9 months from September 2026 - April 2027.
