    About the Program

    • Presented by the Geelong Youth Choir and supported by the City of Greater Geelong, We Sing is a community music initiative aimed to inspire school students from across the Geelong region to sing in a choir.

    • The program will be particularly beneficial for schools that do not have a choir or would like to give their students a valuable extension opportunity to develop their music skills.

    • Students will participate in two half-day weekend workshops, culminating in a performance day where they will sing 2 massed choir songs together with orchestra. They will also have the opportunity to see the Geelong Youth Choirs and selected guest choirs perform.

    • Open to all students aged 8-18 years.

    • Students participating in the two workshops and performance day will be fully supervised by Geelong Youth Choir personnel and volunteers who hold a valid Working with Children Check or VIT registration.

    • A parent or guardian must enrol the student. When completing the enrolment form, please provide the name and contact details of the child's music or performing arts teacher.

    • After we have received the enrolment form, we will email both the parent and the nominated teacher a pack of digital learning materials to help the student/s prepare for the first workshop.

    • Teachers are encouraged to help the student/s prepare the 2 massed choir songs during school time. Alternatively, your child is welcome to attend GYC’s regular rehearsals on a Wednesday after school during Term 2 (no cost for program participants).

    • Further support is also provided through a recorded webinar to be held in Week 9, Term 1.
