Dublin Concert Band is proud to announce a dynamic new training initiative designed to support Ireland’s next generation of conductors.
DCB Conducting Series 2026 offers musicians the chance to step onto the podium, refine their craft, and gain real-world experience in front of one of Ireland’s leading symphonic wind ensembles.
This programme is designed for:
• Established musicians beginning to conduct or expanding into new genres
• Instrumentalists, educators, ensemble leaders, and band directors seeking
structured podium experience
• Musicians who have conducted informally but want professional mentorship and
feedback
Programme Overview
DCB Conducting Series 2026 is a six-session, hands-on artistic development experience running from March to September 2026, giving participants rare access to practical conducting training within a full band environment.
Participants Will Receive:
• Podium time in every session with Dublin Concert Band
• Direct mentorship from the DCB conducting team — including Brendan Breslin and guest conductors
• Musician feedback from DCB players to enhance technique, clarity, and communication
• Optional video review to support reflective practice
• A structured learning sequence covering gesture, rehearsal technique, score study,
leadership, and artistic shaping
The Experience
This series is practical, immersive, and music-centred.
Each session includes:
• Focused technique workshops
• Immediate podium sessions
• Clear, constructive feedback
• Progressive conducting challenges as skills develop
Participants will build a toolkit they can take back to their own ensembles, community groups, or educational settings.
Culminating Performance
A select number of participants will be invited to:
• Conduct one piece in a Dublin Concert Band concert
• Receive a high-quality recording of the performance
• Showcase their growth in a professional environment
This transforms learning into a defining artistic milestone.
