Our Adoption Philosophy & Next StepsThank you for opening your heart and home to a parrot in need. At Safe Perch Exotic Avian Rescue, we see adoption as the beginning of a lifelong partnership — one built on trust, education, and genuine commitment.An approved application moves you forward in our process, but does not guarantee placement of a specific bird. Every parrot in our care carries a unique history, personality, and set of needs. Our responsibility is to match each bird with a home where they can truly thrive — and we reserve the right to delay or decline an adoption when we believe it's not in the bird's best interest. This isn't a formality; it's the foundation of responsible rescue.We also believe informed adopters make the best Parronts. Throughout the process, we'll offer guidance, resources, and open communication so you feel confident and prepared for every stage of life with your bird.What Happens NextOnce your application is approved, we'll schedule a home visit or virtual walkthrough to see your space and answer any questions. From there, you may be invited to one or more meet-and-greet visits — giving both you and the bird time to build a natural, comfortable connection. Every adoption decision is made thoughtfully and without pressure.We appreciate your patience and your commitment to giving a parrot the permanent home they deserve.Please note: Safe Perch operates as a registered nonprofit organization. Scheduled appointments are reserved time, and no-call/no-shows will result in your application being closed. We ask that you contact us 24hours in advance if you need to reschedule.
