Our Adoption Philosophy & Next StepsThank you for considering adoption and for opening your heart and home to a parrot in need. At Safe Perch Exotic Avian Rescue, we believe adoption is the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on trust, understanding, and informed commitment. While an approved application allows us to move forward in the adoption process, it does not guarantee placement of a specific bird. Every parrot in our care has a unique history, personality, and set of physical and emotional needs. Our responsibility is to ensure each bird is placed in a safe, stable, and permanent home where they can truly thrive. We often say that the bird helps guide the decision — but ultimately, our priority is the long-term well-being, safety, and happiness of the parrot. For this reason, Safe Perch Exotic Avian Rescue reserves the right to decline or delay an adoption if we believe it is not in the bird’s best interest. This approach is rooted in our commitment to responsible rescue, thoughtful matching, and reducing repeat surrender.Education is a core part of our mission. Through open communication, guidance, and support, we strive to help adopters become confident, prepared Parronts — parents of parrots — who understand both the joys and responsibilities of sharing life with a bird.Next Steps:Once your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit or virtual walkthrough to better understand your environment and answer any questions. After that, you may be invited to participate in one or more meet-and-greet visits, allowing both you and the bird the opportunity to build a comfortable, mutual connection. Adoption decisions are made thoughtfully and without pressure, ensuring the best possible outcome for everyone involved.Thank you for your patience, understanding, and commitment to giving a parrot the forever feather home they deserve.
