GREAT RIFT DIRT TOUR GRAND DEPART
  • Rally on the Rift is a 5-day community adventure ride and challenge through the present-day Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve, following the 285-mile Great Rift Dirt Tour route.

We'll roll through small towns with good food, kind folks, and necessary supplies. We'll tour rugged terrain, enjoy the solitude of Idaho's high desert, and the company of good people. Everyone is encouraged to ride at their own comfortable pace, although typically we end up camping together most nights.

Please complete this form to hold your spot for the event. Rally on the Rift is limited to 20 folks. If you can't make it, please notify Aaron at aaron@destinationreroute.com to free up the spot for others.

While Rally on the Rift is completely free to participate in and ride, your donations help sustain continued route development and future community events.

PLEASE READ - DO NOT SKIP

Upon filling out this sign-up form, you will receive a Welcome Packet and be included in emails leading up to the Rally on the Rift on June 8th - 14th (ride days are 9th - 13th). Emails will include information on the routes, start location, and time updates, camping options, group ride structure, and more helpful tips to prepare.

    IMPORTANT:
The Rally on the Rift event takes place on predominantly unpaved roads and trails through very remote and rugged terrain. This is a completely self-supported ride with limited resupply options and resources on route.

    REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

    • GPS device with the downloaded route
    • A backup of the route on a phone or another device
    • An SOS device (i.e. Spot or InReach)
    • Durable Tubeless Tires
    • 2" minimum tire width. This is NOT a gravel bike route.
    • The ability to carry 5-8 liters of water and food multiple days
    • Layers, gloves, helmet, lights, tool kit, pump, etc.

    THIS IS A SELF-SUPPORTED RIDE

The Rally on the Rift is completely self-supported with very limited resupply options. Each rider is responsible for their own food, water, mechanicals, clothing, navigation, and their safe completion of the ride or extraction off the route no matter how long it may take.

    What is an adventure ride?

Adventure rides include more technical surfaces and steeper terrain and often take place in more remote regions in the backcountry than your average gravel or dirt ride. Most of the Great Rift Dirt Tour (about 75%) includes surfaces ranging from rutted and rocky 4x4 jeep trails and rough gravel or sandy roads, with a small amount of smooth gravel (about 13%). There is no singletrack, but doubletrack often dictates one preferred narrow line over another.

    What is a rally-style, self-supported event?

Many rides and events often end with a lackluster finish – with no one to congratulate, greet, welcome, and high-five you at the end. Out in the Great Rift Backcountry, you’re likely to spend a lot of time in solitude. How great would it be to enjoy the company of others and share in the stories of the past 5 days? This is the goal!

While you are not expected to stick together or ride at a certain pace with others, you're encouraged to hang out and camp at the finish on Saturday to welcome others as they roll in!

In all honesty, we bump into one another often throughout the rally, especially in the first couple of days, and often end up camping together!

Dates and times are subject to weather conditions and may change at any time leading up to the scheduled ride date.

  • We will be gathering back at Kings Bowl on Saturday, June 13th for a post-ride grill out. You're welcome to invite your friends and family out to greet you and camp with us this final night.

The following morning, we'll do a chill 10-mile (UNLOADED and unpaved) ride around Kings Bowl—family and beginner-friendly.
