Eligible Vendors and Products
WHO IS AN ELIGIBLE VENDOR?
An eligible vendor is:
a) an Independent artisan who indentifies as Indigenous to Turtle Island (Canada and United States) who is First Nations, Inuit, or Metis, or
b) an Indigenous non-profit community support or service group.
WHAT ARE ELIGIBLE PRODUCTS?
Eligible products are:
a) original designs hand-made by the vendor (or the vendor's family or fellow Indigenous artisans if working as a group),
b) culturally authentic crafts that are commonly accepted at Powwow vendor markets. Examples include jewelry, clothing and sewn crafts, footwear and accessories, art and carvings, drums, home accessories, woodcraft, leatherwork, hides and fur, pottery, Indigenous medicines such as sage and sweetgrass. Objects can be traditional or contemporary as long as they are culturally authentic according to generally understood guidelines for powwow vendors.
c) made from natural materials or traditional/culturally acceptable manmade materials.
Products that are not accepted: Mass manufactured or imported from outside North America.
