• Kitten Bottle Feeder Volunteer

    Application
  • Stratford Animal Rescue Society (STARS) is seeking experienced kitten bottle feeders to help care for vulnerable neonatal kittens in need of round-the-clock support.

Bottle feeders take home a litter of kittens and provide frequent feedings, warmth, monitoring, and basic daily care in a safe, quiet home environment. This includes overnight feedings, tracking weight and intake, assisting with stimulation, and promptly communicating concerns to shelter staff. Supplies, guidance, and veterinary support are provided.

This role is ideal for individuals who have prior neonatal kitten experience, flexibility, patience, and the ability to respond quickly to fragile medical needs. It is demanding, but lifesaving.

If you have the experience and the heart to help these kittens survive and thrive, we would love to hear from you.

    Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement

I, the undersigned volunteer foster (“Foster”), acknowledge that participation in the Kitten Bottle Feeding Program involves the temporary care of neonatal kittens, which are fragile animals requiring intensive, around-the-clock care and supervision.

    Assumption of Risk
I understand and acknowledge that neonatal kittens are medically fragile and that illness, injury, or death may occur despite proper care. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with fostering and caring for neonatal kittens, including emotional distress related to illness or loss.

    Release, Indemnification, and Hold Harmless
In consideration for being permitted to participate in the Kitten Bottle Feeding Program, I hereby agree to release, indemnify, defend, and hold harmless:

    Stratford Animal Rescue Society (STARS)
    The Town of Stratford
    Stratford Animal Control
All officers, employees, agents, and volunteers of the above
from any and all claims, demands, actions, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind arising out of or related to my participation in the program, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, emotional distress, or loss of animals.

    Ownership of Kittens
I acknowledge and agree that all kittens placed in my care remain the sole property of Stratford Animal Rescue Society (STARS) at all times.

I further agree that all kittens must be returned immediately upon request by an Animal Control Officer or authorized STARS representative, for any reason.

    Veterinary Care Authorization
I understand that I may not bring any kitten to a veterinarian without prior authorization from an Animal Control Officer or authorized STARS representative.

If I seek veterinary care without prior approval, I acknowledge and agree that I will be personally and financially responsible for any and all veterinary fees incurred, and such expenses will not be reimbursed by STARS or the Town of Stratford.

    Neonatal Mortality Acknowledgment
I understand and accept that neonatal kittens may pass away despite appropriate care, and that such outcomes are an unfortunate and known risk of neonatal fostering. I agree that there shall be no disputes, accusations, or conflict arising from the natural death of neonatal kittens when reasonable care has been provided.

    Compliance
I agree to follow all instructions, protocols, and guidance provided by STARS and Stratford Animal Control and understand that failure to do so may result in immediate removal from the program.

    Voluntary Agreement
I certify that I am participating voluntarily, have read and fully understand this agreement, and sign it freely and knowingly.
