WBMS 7th Grade 4th Period Band

Dear 7th Grade 4th Period Band Students and Families,

We have received our performance assignments for the 2026 Georgia Music Educator’s Association (GMEA) Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) and want to pass along the information to you. The GMEA LGPE gives bands in our district the opportunity to perform for each other and for a panel of highly qualified adjudicators who will evaluate each performance based on set criteria. Students do not perform individually at this LGPE.  This is strictly a group effort and all students are expected to attend.  This year’s LGPE will be held at Cambridge High School located at 2845 Bethany Bend, Milton, GA 30004.  Times for the performance are listed in the itinerary below.

The students have worked and will work very hard to prepare and we are sure that their experience will be even more positive with you there to support them.  We would LOVE to have a very large turnout of WBMS supporters.  Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the performance AND sight-reading!!!

To be eligible for the trip, students must be able to perform their music to a satisfactory level (pass-off individually), bring their instruments, supplies, and music each day to school, attend the pre-festival concert, and display a positive attitude during class. 

During the event, students will be expected to conduct themselves in a way that will represent WBMS in a very positive and mature manner.
For our pre-LGPE concert and LGPE performance, students must be in their BAND UNIFORM (See Handbook) to perform and remain in their uniform for the entire trip.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend LGPE!
Students will be transported by charter bus to and from Webb Bridge for this event.

Please come to school in your band uniform.

12:10PM – Leave your class for lunch*

*If you eat a school lunch, please report to the café to get your lunch and then to band room 2. If you bring your own lunch, please report immediately to band room 2.

12:15PM - 12:45PM - Eat Lunch in Band Room 2

12:45PM – Report to Band Room 1 in Full Uniform

12:45PM – Uniform Check in Band Room 1

1:00PM – Depart WBMS for Cambridge High School

1:30PM – Arrive/Unload/Bathroom Break

2:00PM – Warm-Up

2:30PM – Warm-Up End

2:35PM – Perform in the auditorium

3:10PM – Sight Reading

4:15PM – Depart Cambridge High School for WBMS

4:45PM - Arrive back at WBMS for parent pick-up.

 

Please plan to pick up your child at 4:45PM.

My child has permission to attend the LGPE on March 27th, 2026.  I understand that if my child is not able to attend, they will be required to complete a make-up assignment of equal caliber within one week of the event.  

Students who receive in- or out-of-school suspension may be asked to complete the make-up assignment in lieu of attending.  This will be decided on a case-by-case basis by our administrative team.

 

There is no cost to attend this trip.
