Make a difference? Have fun this summer?  If YES, then we want YOU to apply for The Salvation Army’s Counselor Internship Program!

    What is a Counselor Intern? The Salvation Army’s Counselor Internship (also known as a CIT) Program is for students ages 14-17. Ideal Counselor Interns must possess a sincere desire to work with and help children. They must show a willingness to learn leadership skills, possess a solid work ethic, and strive to be a positive role model. They must also be able to participate in and help lead a variety of outdoor and indoor activities.     

    Hours & Cost: The Summer Day Camp Counselor Intern Program operates May 26, 2026 to August 14, 2026; Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Counselor Interns volunteer on average 20 hours per week and coordinate their schedule with the Community Center Director. Counselor Interns may also use this volunteer opportunity for school requirements.       

    Counselor Interns who successfully complete 250 hours during the summer months can apply to receive a $200 scholarship at the end of the summer!    

    There is NO COST for students accepted as Counselor Interns. The cost of all meals, field trips, and staff apparel are provided for by The Salvation Army.

    What Will I Do? Assist with games, sports, crafts & activities. Attend field trips & swimming at Grant Beach Pool. Mentor and be a good role model to the children attending Day Camp. Assist staff with weekly theme activities & games. Learn valuable job skills & life lessons. HAVE A FUN & REWARDING SUMMER! AND MUCH, MUCH MORE!

    The application deadline is Friday, April 24, 2026; applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Completed applications must include contact information for two references. Upon application submission, we will contact you with additional information. Students who have been accepted into the Counselor Intern program will be notified by May 1, 2026. Please check your email as we will email important application and day camp information to you and your parent.
