  • WARNING!

MEGOHMMETERS CAN GENERATE SIGNIFICANT VOLTAGE AND CAUSE DEADLY ELECTRICAL SHOCK. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO ELIMINATE ALL RISKS OF SHOCK TO SELF AND OTHERS

After testing, conductors may hold a DC charge. In case your megger doesn't have a auto-discharge, make sure to discharge the conductor against a grounded source.

  • Prior to testing:

Where the conductors to be tested are part of circuits that are connected to live electrical systems, de-energize and lockout/tagout (LOTO) all possible sources or voltage.

Completely de-terminate all test condutors at all points of termination.

Clean, seperate, and support test conductors at both ends to eliminate risk of conductor incidental contact.

Insulate and construct physical barricades/boundaries to expose conductive portions of the test conductors at the non-testing end to eliminate incidental contact.

    Testing reminders:

Be sure leads make constant contact with the conductors.

On 120V to 480V circuits, use the 500V setting unless instructed otherwise.

Perform each conductor test for at least one minute, or until no variation in reading is noted for 15 seconds.
