  • Pregnancy Intervention Policy

Shining Star Rescue prioritizes prevention of future suffering through timely spay/neuter intervention, including spay of pregnant cats when medically appropriate. While we understand this can be an emotional decision, allowing litters to be born significantly increases colony size, shelter burden, and risk to kittens.Due to our limited capacity and volunteer resources, if pregnancy spay is declined, we may be unable to provide intake or placement assistance for resulting litters.By proceeding with TNR services, caregivers acknowledge this prevention-based policy.
