The Chamber is pleased to announce that, in partnership with Robert Bosch, LLC, we will award two $1000 scholarships to two 2026 graduating seniors from Dorchester County who will attend an accredited four- year college or university in South Carolina with a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) related major.
The Chamber's Education and Workforce Division focuses on several areas when deciding on recipients of the scholarships. These areas are:
Expressions and Presentation: We will review the student's ability to clearly describe the significance of the scholarship related to their life goals. This should also include employment, outside hobbies, interests, and activities. Any additional details regarding obstacles or hardships that the student has overcome may be included.
Academics: We will select a student with at least a 3.5 out of 4.0 GPA average on the SC Uniform Grading Policy scale. Weight will be given to GPA, Class rank (if applicable), and the higher of the SAT/ACT scores submitted.
Need: We will select a student who clearly identifies their need (e.g. family income, other family members in college at the same time, or lack of opportunites to receive financial assistance from other sources). This shows the committeee that this scholarship is not just a financial necessity but critical for success.
Verification: The student 's School Counselor must confirm the applicant's GPA is above a 3.5 on the 4.0 scale and that the student is eligible for admission to a four-year institution based on GPA and test scores.
School /Community/Civic Involvement: Sports, band, clubs, volunteer activities through church, or other community organizations. Is the student helping others?
Work experience: Summer or part-time jobs, with hours worked and type of work, should be a part of the application.
College Ability: School Counselor must confirm applicant's SAT and or ACT scores, as well as grade point average, are acceptable for admission to a four-year college or university.
Funds: The student that is awarded the scholarship is required to contact the Chamber with applicable college information (name, address, etc). The Chamber will mail a check directly to the state college.
Continuation of Scholarship: Renewal of the scholarship is contingent upon the recipient remaining enrolled in a STEM major and maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Any changes in an academic program outside of a STEM discipline may result in the termination of scholarship eligibilty. Scholarship renewals will be evaluated on a yearly basis. The Chamber will request information on completion of each academic year.
Application deadline: Friday, March 27, 2026
