1. Verification of the Kōhanga Reo you attended
Please contact your previous Kōhanga Reo and request a letter confirming your attendance to support your scholarship application.
If your Kōhanga Reo is no longer operating, you may instead provide:
- A letter of support from a former kaimahi, or
- A letter from a whānau member or a member of your local District tari who can verify that you attended Kōhanga Reo.
2. Confirmation / verification of your full-time tertiary enrolment details for 2026
To verify your tertiary enrolment, please provide one of the following:
- A letter of acceptance from your training provider confirming your entry into the course, or
- An authorised (signed) copy of your course confirmation letter, or
- A letter from your institute, wānanga, PTE, TEO, trade training provider, employer, or other relevant organisation confirming your enrolment.
3. Your 2026 course outline, verifying that Te Reo Māori is included in your programme of study*
If Te Reo Māori is included as part of your current programme of study, please provide evidence by way of a course list. *If Te Reo Māori is not included as part of your current programme of study, you will need to demonstrate your ongoing commitment to the revitalisation of Te Reo in your daily life. Please clearly articulate this in section 6 of this application form.
4. Complete the tuhituhi requirements outlined on page 4 for the scholarship you are applying for. Your written responses must clearly demonstrate your ongoing commitment to the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori. You must also submit a short supporting video (3 minutes max) to accompany your kōrero.
Your video (maximum 3 minutes) should:
- Introduce yourself – your name, where you’re from, and any kōrero that helps us understand who you are.
- Explain your connection to Kōhanga Reo and to Te Reo Māori – how it has shaped you, your learning journey, and why it matters to you.
- Describe your ongoing commitment to revitalising Te Reo Māori – what you currently do, how you contribute, and how you plan to continue this mahi.
- Share why you are applying for this scholarship – what it will support you to achieve and how it aligns with your goals.
- Speak openly and authentically – we want to hear your genuine voice and aspirations.

5. Ensure your whānau, hapū and iwi affiliation is endorsed by a Kaumātua/Kuia.
6. Attach an encoded bank deposit slip or verification of your bank account.
