16th Annual oSTEM Conference Request for Programs Submission

The 16th Annual oSTEM Annual Conference will take place October 22-24, 2026 in Albuquerque, NM, USA. Learn more about the conference at conference.ostem.org
Thank you for your interest in submitting a workshop for the 2026 oSTEM Conference. Workshops are 50-minute presentations by 1 or 2 individuals. If you are interested in moderating and/or participating in a panel, please review this year's panel themes and submit the 16th Annual oSTEM Conference Request for Panelists submission form. Any questions or requests can be sent to conference-programming@ostem.org. Please note that this form is due by May 31, 2026 at 11:59PM Eastern Time.
Program Topics - Please select the most applicable track as defined in the Request for Programs document*

Collegiate Track - This track is focused for individuals who regularly interact with a student population or hold positions that are based in academia. Submissions for this track will be applicable to undergraduate, graduate, and faculty/staff positions in order to build a network of tools and resources to take back to the participant’s home institution.Industry Track - This track aims to engage individuals that are currently in the workforce or are imminently prepared to enter the workforce. Potential workshop topics include how to better engage your employer, advocate for LGBTQ+ populations during your work day, build career-development skills, or shape your professional brand.Government and Community Organizations Track - Programming in this track will focus on the intersections between science and society. Workshops should engage conference attendees who are current employees of or interested in working for nonprofits, community organizations, political thinktanks, and/or local, state, or federal government. Examples of topics for this track include the role of scientists in government agencies, science policy and law, and utilizing science in advocacy work.Technical Spotlight - Topics for this track will be focused on the technical aspects of the presented topic. The intended audience for these workshops includes professionals who already belong to this field or those want to appreciate the intricacies of the field. These submissions are more focused and it is expected that the audience will have foundational knowledge of the topic being discussed. For the 2025 Conference, technical spotlight categories will include: AI and Machine Learning, Research and Study Design in Diverse Populations, and Solutions for a Sustainable Future.

Each session will be held in a meeting room with a projector, screen, microphone, HDMI cord and power strip. Presenters will need to provide a laptop or other media device and any required dongles to connect via HDMI.
Workshop Format*

Lecture Style - The majority of this presentation will be information provided from the speaker(s), and a majority of the workshop will be information from a slide deck with some time for questions at the end.Lecture-Discussion Style - This workshop will consist of both a lecture and significant small group discussion or other interactive activities.Large Group Discussion - This workshop is primarily focused on facilitating a group discussion. Slides may be utilized to guide discussion, but they are not all-encompassing and are not the primary mode of communication.
