Queen Eligibility Requirements
• Applicant must be a dues-paid member of the Junior Red Angus Association.
• Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 21 at the application deadline.
• Applicant must show an active interest in raising and promoting the Red Angus breed.
• Must be present for the opening day of the Red Angus Youth Expo through the conclusion of the show.
• Second terms are allowed only when no other qualified individuals apply.
• Applicants must also assist JRA board of directors and show staff throughout the week of Expo.
Application Requirements
• Complete this application form by May 22, 2026.
• Upload two reference letters at the bottom of this application (Ex: Advisor, Teacher, Breeder, Church Leader). Reference letters should not be from a family member.
Selection Process:
•Candidate(s) must be present and assist at all scheduled little buck-a-roo events.
•Judge(s) will evaluate the candidate(s) through an interview on Sunday evening at start of RAYE.
Judging questions include but is not limited to the following:
• What are your goals as the Junior Red Angus Queen?
• What is your involvement within your state JRA Association or the national JRA Association?
• General knowledge of the Red Angus breed and beef industry.
Selection is based on -
• 30% based on application
• 70% based on interview
Responsibilities
•Attend National Red Angus events (Cattlemen’s Congress, RAYE, and Red Angus Convention each fall).
• Submit articles to the Red Angus Magazine as requested.
• Submit articles to the JRA newsletter at the beginning of each month.
• Appear in official dress at shows and industry functions when representing the breed. **Official dress is black pants or dark jeans with a white button-up shirt, black jacket, boots, belt, sash, and tiara. **
Awards
• All participants will be recognized at the Red Angus Youth Expo Awards Ceremony.
• Tiara and sash will be provided.
• Travel reimbursement to approved events and shows.
