For the 2026 VA Scholastic & College Championships
Clocks are a part of chess,
just like the chess pieces and chess board.

When you play a game without a clock you are unable to track the amount of time that you and your opponent have used. If your opponent is taking a lot of time to think, then you are putting yourself at more of a disadvantage after every move. In the main tournament, each player has the same amount of time to complete all their moves ... but without a clock, your opponent can use your time.

The VA Chess Federation owns over 100 chess clocks and is willing to provide you with one to play your games. The cost is $15 for the entire tournament, including Blitz. If you "order" your clock with us you will be able to pick it up at the Tournament Director's Office as early as Friday evening.

You must return your clock to the Tournament Director's Room after you finish your final game on Sunday.
