• WMAAA Scholarship Application Form

    The West Michigan Asian American Association (WMAAA) Scholarship Program supports West Michigan students of Asian descent who are pursuing academic, vocational, or personal development goals. This program recognizes achievement, leadership, service, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Our goal is to empower students to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. -Applications will reopen in early February 2026. -Each scholarship recipient will receive up to $1,000. Scholarship funds are intended for educational purposes only. Disbursement is subject to the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

  • WMAAA Innovation Scholarship 

    This scholarship celebrates students who demonstrate exceptional creativity and innovation across multiple disciplines. It recognizes leadership within schools, extracurricular activities, or community organizations, and honors individuals who create positive impact through innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to driving meaningful community change.

  • WMAAA Impact Scholarship 

    This scholarship honors students who actively raise awareness of and advocate for issues affecting minority communities. Recipients are often involved in affinity groups, organize cultural celebrations, and participate in volunteer efforts that foster inclusion and understanding. The Impact Scholarship recognizes individuals who demonstrate a deep commitment to service, lead with humility, and use their influence to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. 

  • WMAAA Achievers Scholarship 

    This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning, intellectual curiosity, and personal growth. Recipients may pursue knowledge through formal education, vocational or trade programs, or through self-directed learning, creative skill development, professional growth, or community-based training. The WMAAA Achievers Scholarship honors individuals who actively seek out, apply, and build new knowledge and competencies. 

  • WMAAA Champion Scholarship 

    This scholarship recognizes students who are deeply committed to the mission, vision, and values of WMAAA. Recipients have actively participated in WMAAA-sponsored events and demonstrated strong dedication to the organization’s initiatives. Beyond their academic or vocational pursuits, these individuals are committed to continued engagement and support of WMAAA’s work as they transition into their careers. Through sustained involvement, they embody the spirit of leadership, community, and service. 

  • Essay / Video Submission Topics

    A personal narrative or creative submission (essay, video, or presentation) ○ Essay in PDF or Word document format, 300-500 words, double-spaced, and no longer than two pages  ○ Video presentation with a maximum duration of 3 minutes ○ Digital presentation with a maximum duration of 3 minutes  **When you use AI tools like Chatgpt and Gemini, make sure to give credit to the source. Also remember to include all questions/prompts you used as a part of your work.**

  • WMAAA Innovation Scholarship 

    Describe your innovation and how it contributes to your community. Explain your plans post high school/college graduation or vocational school program competition and how this scholarship will benefit you in the long run. You are encouraged to submit a portfolio, video, or presentation of your already - created innovation

  • WMAAA Impact Scholarship

    Explain why raising awareness about minority group issues are important to you. Highlight an individual within our community that you admire and who accomplishes the work of elevating minority voices. Tell us about your background and how you will continue volunteering after high school/college graduation or vocational school program completition

  • WMAAA Achievers Scholarship

    Describe what you are passionate about and what education pathway you will undertake to further your dreams
