Virginia Invasive Species Awareness Events in Loudoun
WHAT:
Come on out and socialize with your fellow residents, get some exercise, and make a difference in Loudoun County during Virginia Invasive Species Awareness Week.
Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance members will be hosting 5 events in partnership with Wetlands Studies and Solutions, Inc:
- Saturday, February 21: 11AM-2PM, Lansdowne on the Potomac, Leesburg
- Saturday, February 28: 10AM - 1PM, Sycamore Hill, Leesburg
- Saturday, February 28: 10AM - 1PM, EcoVillage of Loudoun, Lovettsville
- Sunday, March 1: 10AM-1PM, Cascades, Sterling
- Sunday, March 1: 10AM-1PM, Creighton Farms, Aldie
During the event, participants will remove invasive plants easily identified and accessed in the winter season, including vines like English Ivy and Vinca and shrubs including Amur and Japanese Honeysuckle. Volunteers will be led by the experienced professionals from Wetlands Studies and Solutions, Inc.

WHAT TO BRING:
- Hand pruners, loppers, pruning saws if you have them. Not required.
- If you plan to participate, you must wear a hat, safety glasses, long sleeves, long pants, closed-toe shoes, and gloves (gloves and glasses provided).
- Dress for the weather.
NOTE: Participants will be working with herbicides. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses and nitrile gloves) will be provided. EcoVillage will offer a non-herbicidal invasive plant removal alternative training session.
