• 2026 Brandywine Zoo VolunTEEN Application

    Please fill out the application below. Applications are open from February 22 to April 5. If selected, you will be required to attend a group interview on either 4/16 (5:30-6:30 pm) or 4/18 (2-3pm) and both trainings on 5/2 (12-5pm) and 5/16 (9am-3pm).   • Zoo Camp Assistant Counselor: All VolunTEENs will work a minimum of two weeks as a Zoo Camp Assistant each summer and are required to be present from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • All VolunTEENs will have two shifts each week. These shifts will rotate between Barnyard Monitor and Interpretation. Each Barnyard Monitor or Interpretation shift is 3.5 hours and takes place from 9:00am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-4:00pm. Teens will not be scheduled for Barnyard Monitor or Interpretation when they're scheduled to work summer camps.

    Barnyard Monitor: VolunTEENs will work along side guests and children in the goat yard. These volunteers will assist animal keepers in cleaning the barnyard and feeding the goats. Please check the boxes that you are generally available to work during the summer.

    Interpretation: VolunTEENs support our educational programming and enhance visitor experience by conducting conservation message activities with guests at the zoo. VolunTEENs will be trained to use biofacts (animal artifacts) as educational tools to provide more hands on learning experiences for guests.
