Please note the following before choosing your attendance:
Day 1 (5th May):
Great foundation for beginners, and excellent review for those with some experience. Covers the following:
- Properties of ultrasonic calls.
- Basics of bat call ID (eg. call types, features, measurements).
- Technology & survey methods.
- Introduction to Anabat Insight.
- Optional guided evening bat walk.
Day 1 will not cover the identification of Australian bats.
Days 2-3 (6th & 7th May):
This is the 'nuts and bolts' of bat call analysis. Covers the following:
- Introduction to species ID, including intraspecific variation.
- Intermediate skills in Anabat Insight, including filters, searches, metrics, reports.
- Using published keys.
- Basics of decision trees.
- Basic workflow options.
Days 2-3 will cover species ID, but not go into great depth discerning tricky species.
Day 4* (8th May):
Designed to advance ID skills on difficult species, and optimise Insight workflow. Covers the following:
- Teasing apart common species complexes.
- Tricky to ID species.
- Build a full decision tree.
- Guided analysis to optimise workflow.
*PREREQUISITE for Day 4: You must had attended Days 2-3 OR attended an in-person workshop in the last 3 years.
