Cal-Wood’s Spring Birding event will be a spectacular opportunity to connect with our local bird population, deepen your relationship with the land, expand your capacity to take in your surroundings. Local bird language facilitator, Karen Axe, will be guiding us through a sit spot, providing grounding tools, and helping us experience the wonder and peace that can arise when we attune to the world around us. After a morning outside, we will return to the Calvert Lodge for a nourishing lunch and closing of this magical day. Ages 14+ 

Come learn about the wildflowers which call this state home. While walking through the Cal-Wood grounds we will seek out, and explore a wide variety of wildflower types. Our lesson will end at the lodge where we will share a nourishing lunch and get to connect our learnings to Cal-Wood’s wide library of guidebooks. 

The plants we see everyday hold remarkable medicinal properties. Come learn about how to harness nature’s power and gain health from the land. Participants will garner new knowledge and leave feeling inspired by nature’s medicinal properties. Ages 18+

This course will start with a delicious meal at the lodge where we will learn about the wide range of skills needed for successful nature photography. We will then head out into the hills to apply our newly learned knowledge. Bring whatever camera you have, a smart phone will work great! 

Spend the morning observing the birds preparing for winter. Learn about migratory patterns, cold weather resiliency, and Colorado bird life. After our morning hike we will share lunch in the lodge. 

Come and learn all about the people who lived on this land before we started teaching kids. In the Halloween spirit, we will tell (family friendly) ghost stories and commune with the past. The evening will end with a cozy dinner in the lodge. 

Come and enjoy a day of taking in the lovely fall sights, then following your inspiration on guided art lessons. Non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, sweet treats, and all art supplies provided.
