• Committee Director Application

    The 2026 NMUN•Spain leadership team is currently accepting applications to fill four committee Director positions. Please read below for detailed instructions and guidelines, and do not hesitate to contact dsg.spain@nmunstaff.org with any questions you may have about the application, the conference, or the responsibilities of the committee Director positions.

    Applications are due on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM (EASTERN)

  • RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

    Committee Directors are the primary officials in their respective committees and are therefore responsible, with input from the Assistant Director (AD), for the substantive and logistical affairs of the committee. They are expected to remain current on all of their committee's topic areas and be well-versed in NMUN Rules of Procedure.

    Directors are responsible for researching and writing one of the topics for committee Background Guides within the deadlines set by the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General. They will also edit the work of their AD and should maintain a strong mentoring relationship with their AD.

    FINANCIAL & TIME CONSIDERATIONS

    Volunteers must be available to attend NMUN•Spain from 22-28 November 2026. The writing process will start in April and conclude in July. Shared lodging and air transportation are paid for by National Model United Nations (up to certain maximums).

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    NMUN•Spain requires applicants to have a minimum of three full years of staff experience in a Director or higher position, specifically at NMUN•NY or NMUN•DC, to ensure the highest quality in writing, directing, and mentoring of ADs.

  • PERSONAL INFORMATION

  •  - -
  • PLEASE NOTE that if you currently hold a staff position at NMUN•DC 2026 or if you plan to apply for a staff position for NMUN•NY 2027, you will be asked to include an explanation of how you will handle overlapping duties between conferences in your cover letter.

    Please carefully consider your bandwidth before submitting your application, for the sake of your own health and the health of the conferences that we all love.

  • COMMITTEE PREFERENCE

    In 2026, NMUN•Spain will simulate the United Nations General Assembly (GA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

    COVER LETTER

    In your Cover Letter, please discuss the following:

    • Your reasons for applying for a Director position;
    • Your plan for mentoring your AD through the writing process, preparing your AD for the Conference, and involving your AD in the management of committee;
    • Examples of mistakes and successes in your mentoring of NMUN staffers in the past and how that has impacted your mentoring approach; and
    • Whether you plan to staff upcoming/future NMUN conferences, including NMUN•DC 2026 and NMUN•NY 2027.
      • If you plan to hold a staff position for NMUN•DC 2026 or NMUN•NY 2027, please include an explanation of how you plan to handle your workload between conferences. "Double dipping" conferences, especially at the senior staff level, can lead to burnout and low-quality output. Please explain how you will be a benefit to each conference that you've dedicated your time to, and how you will maintain a healthy balance with your personal responsibilities.
      • Please note that the NMUN•Spain Writing Process will begin in April and conclude in July.

    CV/RESUME

    Please include all current and prior staff positions you have held at all NMUN conferences, as well as current non-NMUN responsibilities that you have (employment, school, other volunteer activities, etc.).

    WRITING SAMPLE

    Please submit your most recent NMUN Background Guide first draft (for example, your topic's Main Draft that you submitted to NMUN•NY before edits from Volunteer Senior Staff were made). If you don't have a recent writing sample, please submit a recent sample of your editing skills by uploading a recent Main Draft that contains your edits and feedback.

    Please ensure that your Writing Sample indicates when it was written and for what conference or purpose it was written.
