  • Site Scope of Work

  • {workSite}

    In accordance with Section 10 of the OHS Act, this safety orientation serves as the primary mechanism for coordinating health and safety across this work site.

    By participating, you are exercising your right to know about the hazards present on this site. Our mutual success depends on every subcontractor and worker taking active responsibility for safety, ensuring that we maintain a standard of protection regardless of which trade is performing the work.

    This project involves high-risk activities—such as working at heights, operating near open excavations, and coordinating around heavy equipment—clear communication is vital. This orientation provides you with the site-specific knowledge required to navigate these hazards safely and understand our Emergency Response Plans.
    By working together to identify and mitigate risks, we ensure that every person on this project returns home safely at the end of their shift.

  • Preferred Loading Practices

  • {workSite}

    To maintain an organized work site and minimize the risk of incidents between heavy equipment and workers, the following loading practices are mandatory for all subcontractors:

    Street Loading Preference Whenever practical, subcontractors are expected to perform loading and unloading activities from the street rather than the alley. However, safety on the public roadway is paramount. You must ensure that trucks or equipment do not create a hazard for pedestrians or passing motorists.

    Permits and Public Safety If your loading operations require equipment or vehicles to occupy the roadway in a manner that blocks traffic, restricts pedestrian access, or otherwise impacts the public, you are responsible for:

    • Obtaining a Street Use Permit: You must arrange for and provide a copy of a valid permit from the local municipality before the work commences.
    • Public Protection: Ensuring that any sidewalk closures or diversions are clearly marked and safe for all members of the public, including those with limited mobility.
    • Traffic Control and Flaggers In any situation where traffic flow is blocked, restricted, or where a vehicle must perform a difficult back-in maneuver from a public road, a competent flagger must be utilized.
    • Coordination: If your activities will interfere with the flow of traffic, you must coordinate these activities with site supervision/PM at least 24 hours in advance to ensure proper hazard controls are in place.
