- This section serves as our Reservation Agreement and helps ensure that our applicants share our values and are prepared for the lifelong responsibility of raising a Red Rooster Ranch Livestock Guardian Dog. Many of these expectations will also appear in the Individual Puppy Sale Contract, but we include them here to ensure that all applicants understand our program and commitments before moving forward.
- I understand that a non-refundable $500 Reservation Deposit is required to secure my place for an upcoming litter. The deposit may be rolled over one time prior to pregnancy confirmation. After a pregnancy is confirmed, a Litter Commitment is required and rollovers will no longer be permitted except at the sole discretion of Red Rooster Ranch.*

- I understand that barking is a normal and essential livestock guardian behavior used to deter predators and communicate threats. I agree to work with my dog to shape appropriate guardian barking through proper management and training, rather than attempting to suppress natural working instincts. I agree not to rely on bark collars or similar devices that interfere with a guardian dog’s ability to perform its job. If concerns arise about barking, I will work with Red Rooster Ranch and a qualified trainer to address the issue appropriately.*

- I understand that secure, appropriate fencing and proper management are required to keep a livestock guardian dog safe and successful. I recognize that roaming and boundary testing are natural guardian behaviors as dogs establish and protect their territory, and that proper fencing is necessary to guide these instincts safely. I agree to have appropriate fencing and management systems in place before my puppy arrives so the dog can begin in an environment set up for success and avoid developing unsafe habits. I will provide and maintain fencing suitable for a guardian dog, manage the dog responsibly to prevent unsafe roaming or nuisance situations, and understand that tying, chaining, or long-term kenneling is not appropriate management for this breed except in short-term safety or medical situations.*

I understand that tying, chaining, or long-term kenneling is not appropriate management for a livestock guardian dog and agree not to rely on these methods except for short-term safety or medical situations.*

- I understand that livestock guardian dogs are born with strong protective instincts but are still puppies who will play, test boundaries, and require training and supervision as they mature. I agree that puppies will not be left unattended with livestock until they have proven to be trustworthy, especially with poultry or small animals. I will provide a safe, separate area for the puppy when supervision is not possible so that the puppy can learn appropriate behavior in a controlled environment.*

- I understand that livestock guardian dog breeds are different from most companion breeds and may be independent, vocal, patrol property boundaries, test fencing, mature slowly, and require supervision with livestock until fully trained and trusted. I accept that these are normal working-dog behaviors and agree that I will not attempt to rehome, sell, or surrender the dog for these typical guardian traits without first working with Red Rooster Ranch and, if needed, a qualified professional trainer to address management or training solutions.*

- I understand the financial and time commitments associated with owning a livestock guardian dog, including but not limited to high quality nutrition, veterinary care, training, grooming, boarding or pet care when needed, and appropriate housing. I agree to provide my Future Guardian with proper care and all basic needs for the duration of its life.*

- I agree that I will never surrender this dog to a shelter or rescue. If I am unable to keep the dog for any reason, I will contact Red Rooster Ranch first and allow them the right of first return or assistance with rehoming. I understand that Red Rooster Ranch maintains a lifelong commitment to every puppy we place and expects buyers to honor that same commitment as a condition of approval.*

- I understand that breeding rights are not guaranteed and must be approved in writing by Red Rooster Ranch and included in the LGD Puppy Sale Contract. Approved breeding rights will be reflected in an increased puppy price. As ethical breeders, Red Rooster Ranch carefully protects our lines and does not support backyard breeding or casual litters.*

- I understand that puppies sold without approved breeding rights must be sterilized between 18–24 months of age, as outlined in the LGD Sales Policies and LGD Puppy Sale Contract. Until that time, I agree to properly house and securely contain my dog to prevent accidental breeding and understand that preventing unintended litters is my responsibility as an owner. I understand that delaying sterilization until physical maturity is recommended for the long-term health and development of livestock guardian breeds, and I agree to take the additional precautions required to responsibly manage an intact dog until that time.*

- If breeding rights are approved, I understand that they will be subject to additional requirements such as health testing and contract terms, and that pairings will be limited to appropriate Anatolian or other recognized Turkish livestock guardian breeds. I agree to take all reasonable steps to avoid accidental litters and accept responsibility for complying with these breeding requirements as outlined in the RLGD Sales Policies and LGD Puppy Sale Contract.*
