    2026 Volunteer Registration

Durham Fringe Festival will take place Wednesday 29 July to Sunday 2 August 2026. Please complete this form to register as a Durham Fringe 2026 volunteer.
  • Which volunteer role are you interested in?

  • Please select one option. Find information about what each role involves on our website.

No experience is required for general support, but experience is beneficial for tech volunteers. We have a limited number of technician shadowing opportunities.

  • When are you available to support us at the fringe?

  • Durham Fringe 2026 will run across 11 venues, with show start and end times varying across different sites. Volunteers may start as early as 11am and end as late as 11:30pm. Some venues operate for the whole 12-hour period, whereas some don't open until 5pm.

Please select you availablity from the table below. A 'daytime' shift could be approximately 11am - 6pm and 'evening' 5pm - 11:30pm. These timings are not fixed start/end times but hopefully give you an indication of how we will understand your availability from the selection you choose. If you're happy to join us for a full day, please select 'Both (all day)'.

Volunteers are essential to Durham Fringe and we are immensely grateful for the support. We will make volunteer shifts as enjoyable as possible, with breaks for you to rest and see shows for free.

We ask that volunteers are able to commit to a minimum of two days during our five day festival. On top of this, you can also support us during the Get In/Get Out* days.

*Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 July are our "Get in" days when we prepare each venue, for example on Palace Green we have to erect the marquees, staging, tech etc. These are more practical/physical days which may involve sorting and carrying things - steel toe cap boots can be helpful! Monday 3 August is our "Get out" day -  often shorter but there is a lot to sort and clean up.

  • Please try to keep the days you register with free in your diary and we'll confirm allocations as soon as possible, aiming to give you at least one month notice ahead of the Fringe.

Please use the box below to add any availablity comments which may be helpful for us to know when allocating your shifts. For example, use this space to tell us when your last public transport is (if applicable), when you have other commitments such as work or childcare, or any other considerations we should make when adding you to the rota.

  • All volunteers are expected to attend a short induction session in Durham City Centre. This is our opportunity to tell you everything you need to know about this year's plans and for you to ask us any questions you might have.

If you've volunteered with us in previous years, you may not need to attend the induction but you are very welcome to come along.

Refreshements are provided in thanks for your time.

  • Format: 00000 000000.
  • If you are under 16, you must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration you volunteer with us.

  • Please upload a photograph of yourself

This photo will be printed on your lanyard which acts as your volunteer ID and enables you to go see shows for free during Durham Fringe Festival. Lanyards are a requirement for every volunteer.
