Durham Fringe 2026 will run across 11 venues, with show start and end times varying across different sites. Volunteers may start as early as 11am and end as late as 11:30pm. Some venues operate for the whole 12-hour period, whereas some don't open until 5pm.
Please select you availablity from the table below. A 'daytime' shift could be approximately 11am - 6pm and 'evening' 5pm - 11:30pm. These timings are not fixed start/end times but hopefully give you an indication of how we will understand your availability from the selection you choose. If you're happy to join us for a full day, please select 'Both (all day)'.
Volunteers are essential to Durham Fringe and we are immensely grateful for the support. We will make volunteer shifts as enjoyable as possible, with breaks for you to rest and see shows for free.
We ask that volunteers are able to commit to a minimum of two days during our five day festival. On top of this, you can also support us during the Get In/Get Out* days.
*Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 July are our "Get in" days when we prepare each venue, for example on Palace Green we have to erect the marquees, staging, tech etc. These are more practical/physical days which may involve sorting and carrying things - steel toe cap boots can be helpful! Monday 3 August is our "Get out" day - often shorter but there is a lot to sort and clean up.
