Title of Training: “Postvention Specialist Certification Training in Suicide Loss”
This training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, tools, and
confidence to support individuals, families, workplaces, and communities after a
suicide loss. Grounded in the latest national guidelines and research, it explores
the complex intersection of suicide grief and trauma, culturally responsive
support, organizational preparedness, and systems-level coordination.
Participants will gain practical strategies for community support, learn to
navigate the ripple effects of suicide across various settings, and develop the
skills needed to lead and sustain effective postvention responses. This training is
designed for anyone in the community who cares about responding to the
tragedy of suicide (Exmaples include first responders, counselors, faith
communities, schools, veterans groups, people with lived experience, etc).

Title of Training: “Navigating the Tsunami After Suicide: An 8-Session Treatment Model for Mental Health Professionals Helping People Cope with Grief, Trauma, and Distress”
In this immersive and interactive 2-day training, Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas invites
Mental Health Professionals to explore the profound complexities of suicide
bereavement and its impact on individuals and communities. Rooted in personal
experience and research-based strategies, the course introduces an 8-Session
Treatment Model for Mental Health Professionals to provide sensitive, informed,
and practical guidance for those supporting survivors of suicide loss. This training
is designed for mental health professionals and others providing support to
people bereaved by suicide.
Intended Audience: Professional counselors and psychotherapists with an interest in suicide postvention
