  • Application Requirements for New Students:

  • Please use the following as a checklist for your application:
    -Eligibility Criteria
    • Field of Study - Must be pursuing a program in cosmetology, esthetics, barbering, nail technology, or a related beauty industry field.
    • License Status - State Professional License must be current/valid.

  • -Application Requirements

    • Personal Statement - A 500-1,000-word essay explaining: What you would like to obtain from this experience, and how you would use the education you acquire to further your career and uplift the beauty industry.
    • Letters of Recommendation - (1) personal, (1) professional recommendation
    • Resume
    • Copy of valid professional license

  • Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) and Advanced Placement

  • The National Institute of Cosmetology recognizes that many of our students bring valuable
    academic and professional experience to their studies. To honor this, we offer the opportunity to
    apply for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). This process allows you to potentially begin your
    studies at an advanced level, saving time and accelerating your degree completion.

  • How It Works

    • All new students are admitted as Freshmen.
    • If you have prior academic or industry credentials, you may apply for advanced
      placement.
    • Depending on your background, you may be placed at a higher level, up to the Senior
      (Bachelor's) level.

  • Who Can Apply for Advanced Placement?

  • You may apply if you have any of the following:
    • An official transcript showing that you earned a degree from an accredited university.
    • A state-issued instructional or professional license in Cosmetology, Barbering,
      Esthetics, Nail Artistry, or Massage Therapy.
    • Industry certifications or additional professional licenses.
    • Certificates of completion for advanced training courses (please include the name and
      contact information of the course provider).

  • Special Placement Options

    • If you hold a Bachelor's degree, you may be eligible to begin directly in the Master's Program.
    • If you hold a Master's degree, you may be eligible to begin directly in the Doctoral Program.

  • How to Apply

    1. Gather your documents (transcripts, licenses, certifications, training certificates).
    2. Submit your materials with your application or directly to the Office of Admissions and Academic Records.
    3. Your credentials will be reviewed by the Academic Evaluation Committee.
    4. You will receive a written placement decision before starting your program.
  • ✔ Tip: Submitting complete and verifiable documentation will speed up your evaluation. *New students must submit an application, and the requested documents listed below for assessment before a tuition payment can be made.

  • Class Fees are as follows:

    • Freshman-Sophomore - Junior $ 450.00
    • Senior-Graduation Level $ 600.00
    • Master I $ 525.00
    • Master II-Graduation Level $ 600.00
    • UNIVERSITY I, II & III $ 575.00
    • UNIVERSITY IV-Graduation Level $ 700.00
    • CE Credits for license renewal $ 125.00
    • NBCL National Membership - $ 100.00
