Petition Statement
Protect Infrastructure, Water, and Taxpayers
We, the undersigned residents and landowners of Wilson County, Texas, respectfully request that the Wilson County Commissioners Court exercise its lawful authority over infrastructure agreements, tax abatements, development agreements, and the use of county resources before approving, supporting, or entering into any agreements related to large scale industrial energy and data infrastructure developments, including cumulative and clustered projects across multiple precincts such as data centers, battery energy storage systems, utility scale solar facilities, and natural gas power generation facilities.
Specifically, we request that the County adopt the following guardrails:
- Approve no tax abatements, incentives, or public subsidies for large scale industrial utility projects.
- Require formal evaluation of cumulative impacts from such developments on county roads, groundwater resources, emergency services capacity, and long term fiscal exposure before granting any county level agreements or approvals.
- Require formal coordination with the Wilson County Fire Marshal and emergency services to ensure all applicable state fire standards and safety codes are met prior to construction and maintained throughout the operational life of the project.
Wilson County’s infrastructure integrity, groundwater resources, fiscal stability, and rural character must be safeguarded before large scale industrial development proceeds.
