Vibrant show of color, summer through frost.
Tall, vigorous plants do best in warm, relatively dry conditions. Vivid orange blooms with attractive, slender foliage. Best used for cut flowers. Asclepias curassavica is attractive to butterflies and pollinators but we recommend planting a native species for best supporting butterflies. Also known as milkweed, butterfly weed, blood flower, and sunset flower. Tender perennial in Zones 7–10.

Early flowering, pom-pom type blooms.
In our trials, Macaroon White was 7–10 days earlier to flower than the Bonita series. Appearance and plant architecture are both very comparable to the Bonita series, although plants are earlier to flower and slightly shorter. 1 1/2–2 1/2", bright white, double blooms with creamy yellow centers. Uniform and productive plants.
A true Greek oregano.
Strong oregano aroma and flavor—great for pizza and Italian cooking. Characteristic dark green leaves with white flowers.
Attracts Beneficial Insects: provides pollen and nectar for beneficial insects such as bees, hoverflies, lacewing larva, parasitic wasps, and tachinid flies.

Striking red sauce tomato with yellow streaks.
Speckled Roman is an elongated plum tomato, avg. 6-8 oz., with bright red skin and golden streaks. Meaty red flesh has little juice, is good for fresh eating, and cooks quickly into sauce. Masses of soft, feathery, 2–6" long plumes in scarlet, orange, bright yellow, pink, and cream. Multi-branching plants produce 10–14 stems each. Also known as cockscomb, Prince of Wales feather, and prince feather.

This extremely popular heirloom lettuce has a luscious, buttery texture. The soft heads are creamy yellow inside and have some heat resistance. Best in cooler regions. Plant early in spring and repeat every 2 weeks into fall. Protect from heat with shade cloth. Likes fertile soil, ample water. Best when picked minutes before your meal. Space lettuce plants 8" apart.
Smooth, green, purple-veined leaves for baby leaf and bunching.
Stems are purple; leaves are flat and toothed with purple veins. Mature plants are medium-tall and leaves are tender compared to other kales. For salads and light cooking. Sized seed. Also available in organic seed.
Classic Italian variety.
Authentic flavor and appearance. Tall and relatively slow to bolt with large dark green leaves about 3" long. This common strain of Genovese basil can present some variability in leaf shape and plant size. While quite suitable for field and garden, we recommend using a more modern and more uniform variety for greenhouse, container, or hydroponic production, such as Genovese Compact Improved, Aroma 2, Nufar, Dolly, or the Prospera® series. Extra-large blooms with outstanding uniformity.
Highly branching plants. A good choice for packs, pots, and garden planting. Bloom size is 2–2 1/2". Attracts beneficial insects such as hoverflies. Also known as French marigold.
Edible Flowers: Use the flowers to dress up salads and desserts or cooked in egg or rice dishes. Flavor is floral with hints of citrus and spice, and slightly bitter. Remove the petals from the flower base before consuming as the base can be quite bitter.
The premium zinnia.
Recommended by the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers. This vigorous all-season producer holds up well in summer rain and heat all over the country. Densely petaled blooms are up to 6" across. Long-lasting standouts in bouquets. Cut-and-come-again flower, yielding multiple cuts over the season. Colors include deep red, orange, carmine rose, coral, lime, wine, purple, bright pink, white, salmon rose, scarlet, and golden yellow.
Unusual double blooms in a range of colors.
Tall plants with large fully double and semidouble blooms. Shades of carmine, pink, and white make this a great cut flower and garden addition. Cosmos are also known as garden cosmos.
Distinctive appearance and great flavor.
Distinctive, slender fruits are yellow with faint white stripes and light-green blossom ends. Harvest young at 4-6" for unusually delicious, nutty flavor and firm texture. Vigorous, high-yielding plants. NOTE: Under certain stressful situations, such as hot weather, Zephyr fruits can show some variability in the amount of green at the blossom ends. In addition, sometimes the first one or two fruits produced can be green-striped.
Edible Flowers: Blossoms bear a mild, squash-like flavor and are great stuffed and fried, or sliced for use in soups, omelets, salads, and pasta dishes.

Early flowering plants produce large blooms, seed umbels, and foliage on long stems, making Bouquet the preferred dill for cut-flower use and pickling. Also an economical, fast-growing choice for baby-leaf production. Edible seeds, flowers, and greens flavor many foods. Popular addition to sauces, salads, and soup. Foliage known as dill weed.
Edible Flowers: The flowers are used to garnish potato salad, green salads, and pickles. When broken into florets, they can be mixed into a cheese spread or omelet.
Slowest to bolt.
Full, bulky plants. In our trials, Calypso is 3 weeks slower to bolt than Santo.
High consistent yields of very uniform, blocky, dark-skinned 4 1/2" picklers borne on vigorous vines. A strong disease package to rival Max Pack. Suitable for both staked and on-ground cultivation methods. A small seed cavity, dense flesh, and sweet flavor make for perfect pickles. Sustained yields over a full season.
Though bred for the South, The General has also performed well in our Maine trials. Dark fruits are uniform, attractive, and average 8–8 1/2" long. Flavor is superior to most modern American slicing varieties. The gynoecious plants have a high yield potential.
A unique specialty cucumber.
Cute 1" long fruits look like miniature watermelons and taste like cucumbers with tangy citrus overtones. Vines start growing slowly but can get up to 10' long. Can be eaten fresh or pickled. Fruits can be sold in half-pint or clamshell containers at markets that appreciate novelty. Also known as the Cucamelon and mouse melon. Not particularly high yielding. Trellising recommended.
A fun child favorite! Chinese Lantern is largely grown for its vividly colored, orange-red, lantern-shaped fruits that can be cut and dried and used for dried bouquets. Can be invasive; spreads rampantly.
