    ELIGIBILITY and HOW TO ENTER

    1. The Mil-Pra (AECG) Aboriginal Exhibition and all associated adult prizes are only open to adult (18 years or older) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists living in NSW and the ACT. 

    2. To enter please complete and submit the online Adult entry form. You are currently completing the ADULT entry form. (If paper form required please contact us at exhibitions@liverpoolpowerhouse.com.au or (02) 8711 7123) 

    3. Student categories are open to school students and those under the age of 18. Student entrants must complete the Student Entry form HERE.

    4. Group/art collective entries and collaborations are eligible if all artists involved are listed. Please note that a group entry is counted as 1 entry for all artists in the group. i.e. if artist part of 1 group entry they may submit 2 individual artworks only.

    5. Adult artists may submit a maximum of three (3) artworks only. Each of these artworks needs to be submitted on separate online entry forms.

    6. Student artists may submit one (1) artwork independently and be part of one (1) group artwork only. 

    7. A confirmation email will be sent when your entry form has been successfully submitted. 

    8. The following persons, and their immediate families, are ineligible to enter the PRIZES, but may choose to exhibit/display their work only:

    a. 2026 Mil-Pra Annual exhibition competition judges;

    b. current Liverpool City Council Councillors and current Council employees.

    9. Judges and sponsor organisation representatives are not eligible to judge prizes that their immediate family members have entered. Judges have no part in the administration of the Mil-Pra annual exhibition and judging is blind (that is with no names identifying artwork they are judging). 

    10. Artworks entered must meet maximum size & other requirements. Please refer to Clause 4 in TERMS & CONDITIONS below, and Clause 15 for Insurance responsibilities

    11. You must deliver your artwork/s to Liverpool Powerhouse (formerly Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre) on Sunday 23 August 2026, from 10am - 3pm.

    Exhibition Launch: Saturday 19th September 2026, 2-4pm 

    Exhibition Dates: Sat 12th September - Sat 24th October 2025 

    Artwork Sale period: Sat 19th September - Sat 24th October 2026 

    Artwork Collection: Sunday 25th October 2026, 10am-3pm 

    NOTE: These dates may be changed as a response to unforeseen circumstances and health restrictions. In the event that NSW Health restrictions prevent Liverpool Powerhouse from presenting a physical exhibition all together, Liverpool Powerhouse reserves the right to document and publish submitted artworks in an online presentation in consultation with Mil-Pra. You may be contacted to advise of any safety procedures that have been put in place.

  • MAJOR PRIZES

    Mil-Pra AECG Award

    The 2026 theme for for Mil-Pra AECG Award is: 'Deadly' Our Culture, Our Ways, Our People, Our Art! (For more information about the 2026 NAIDOC theme visit: NAIDOC Theme) 

    This $1,500 award is only open to artists whose work reflects the theme. It is sponsored by KARI Foundation, Liverpool City Council and the Mil-Pra AECG. The winning artwork is selected by the Mil- Pra AECG committee.

     

    Bruce & Carol Kendall OAM Memorial Award

    This $500 award is open to all adult artists. It acknowledges and celebrates Bruce and Carol Kendall’s contribution to the Mil-Pra AECG.

     

    Maria Lock Acquisitive Award

    This award is open to all adult artists. It is in recognition of Maria Lock, the first Aboriginal woman to be granted land. The winning artwork is acquired for the Liverpool City Council Collection. The maximum acquisition amount is $2,000.

     

    Mayor’s Choice Acquisitive Award

    This award is open to all adult artists. The winning artwork is selected by the Mayor of Liverpool City Council for the Liverpool City Council Collection. The maximum acquisition amount is $3,000.

     

    KARI Foundation Award

    Sponsored by KARI Foundation, this prize is open to all adult artists.

    1st prize: $500

    2nd prize: $300

     

    Kate Nicholas Liverpool Women’s Services Award

    This $500 award, in memory of Kate Nicholas, is open to all adult female artists and is sponsored by Bonnie Support Services, Liverpool Women’s Health Centre and South West Sydney Women's Centre.

     

    The Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award

    The Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Prize winner must be 18 years of age or older at the close of registration. Proof of age may be required.  

    The 2026 Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Prize winner will receive funds to develop and present an exhibition at Liverpool Powerhouse Arts Centre in 2027. This opportunity may include mentorship by a first nations artist and/or curator. Mentorship and consultation with a Liverpool Powerhouse Curator is available, which will include, but is not limited to technical, curatorial and marketing support. The Prize is sponsored by individual/s and/or group/s and the exhibition support is provided by Liverpool Powerhouse.

    The Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award is contingent on external funding. Liverpool Powerhouse reserves the right to cancel the Prize entirely or change the award based on the funding outcome at any time.

    This award is open to families with young children under school age, children attending open play, playgroups and/ or Early Childhood settings.

  • TERMS & CONDITIONS

    1. Conditions of entry for adults and students: 

    a. All participating adult artists must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. All adult artists must be 18 years of age or older at the date of the exhibition. Proof of age may be required.

    b. All participating student artists must be a year 12 secondary student or younger at the closing date of registration. The Exhibition is open to students of all backgrounds.

    2. Adult artists may submit a maximum of (3) artworks only. Each of these must be submitted on separate entry forms. A group entry is counted as 1 entry for all adult artists in the group. i.e. if artist part of 1 group entry they may submit 2 individual artworks only. See Clause 5. for conditions relating to adult artworks.  

    3. Student artists may submit one (1) artwork independently and be part of one (1) group artwork only. See Clause 6. for conditions relating to student artworks.

    4. Artworks by groups of eligible adult artists and student artists may be entered. See Clause 5. and 6. for artwork conditions.  

    4. The following are conditions in relation to adult artworks

    a. The maximum size for adult 2D artworks must not exceed 150cm by 150cm. Adult 3D artworks must not exceed 100cm x 100 cm.

    b. Any medium accepted.

    c. Digital works must be submitted in MP4/H264 format provided on a USB.

    d. All artworks must be ready for display with D-rings or alternate display hardware attached at time of delivery. If D-rings are not suitable for display the work must come with an alternate hanging system (i.e. pins should be supplied for unframed paper works).

    e. LP will not accept any artworks that are not ready for display or are wet, incomplete, structurally unstable, or damaged in any way. LP will not repair any artworks on the artist’s behalf. Artworks entered must not pose dangers to the strict physical and environmental conditions of the venue. This may include hazardous, plant or living material.

    f. Artworks must have been produced in the last 48 months.

    g. The artwork must be the original unaided work of the artist or their agent. Entry warrants that the artwork does not infringe copyright, moral rights or other rights of any third party. Artworks must be the property of the artist. No previous entries will be accepted.

    h. LP is not responsible for any packaging of artworks. No Artworks will be wrapped prior to collection. Any artists wanting to wrap their works will need to bring all wrapping and wrap the artworks themselves on collection day only.

    5.      Artworks by groups of eligible adult artists and student artists may be entered.

    6.      Student artists may submit one artwork independently and be part of one group artwork only. Schools submitting student works may submit up to 20 student entries only. 

    a. The maximum size for Student 2D artworks must not exceed 60cm x 80cm. Student 3D artworks must not exceed 100cm x 100 cm.

    b. Any medium accepted.

    c. Digital works must be submitted in MP4/H264 format provided on a USB.

    d. All artworks must be ready for display with D-rings or alternate display hardware attached at time of delivery. If D-rings are not suitable for display the work must come with an alternate hanging system (i.e. pins should be supplied for unframed paper works).

    7.      All judges will be appointed by the Mil-Pra AECG committee with the exception of the Mayor’s Choice Acquisitive Award, the Maria Lock Acquisitive Award and the Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award. Artists who have entered artworks or whose children have entered artworks are ineligible to judge any of the awards. The decision of the judge/s will be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered.

    8. The following persons, and their immediate families, are ineligible to enter the PRIZES, but may choose to exhibit/display their work only:

    a. 2026 Mil-Pra Annual exhibition competition judges.

    b. current Liverpool City Councillors and current Council employees.

    9. Judges and sponsor organisation representatives are not eligible to judge prizes that their immediate family members have entered. Judges have no part in the administration of the Mil-Pra annual exhibition and judging is blind (that is with no names identifying artwork they are judging). 

    PLEASE NOTE: 'Immediate Family Members' means a spouse or former spouse, de facto partner or former de facto partner, child, parent grandparent, grandchild or sibling of an artist, or a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of an artist’s spouse or de facto partner. It includes step-relations (e.g., step-parents and step-children) as well as adoptive relations.

    10. All exhibiting artists will permit their artworks to be reproduced in print and electronic media for the purpose of advertising and promoting the 34th Annual Mil-Pra AECG Exhibition & Prizes. LP reserves the right to reproduce artworks in subsequent promotional material with appropriate artist credit.

    11. Artists are responsible for organizing all transport matters. Artists are responsible for all costs and insurances involved in the transport of their artwork.

    12. Artworks may be photographed for educational/promotional purposes while on display in the exhibition.

    13. LP reserves the right to refuse and/or withhold any artwork from display at its own discretion.

    14. All adult artworks available for sale for $100 or more will be subject to a total 20% commission payable to LP (10%) and Mil-Pra AECG (10%). All artworks available for sale for $99 or less will not be subject to any commission.

    15. Student artworks are not for sale.

    16. It is the responsibility of all entrants to obtain their own insurance cover against loss, destruction, damage and/or consequential loss (including but not limited to natural disasters, catastrophes, and the like) in relation to their entry/artwork. Unless otherwise advised, Council does not insure entries/artworks in transit, storage or on exhibition. It is expected that each entrant effects any additional insurance it considers reasonably necessary (or which a prudent artist would take out having regards to the nature and value of the entry/artwork and the type of exhibition). Council, while taking all due and reasonable care of entries/artworks, to the extent permitted by law, is not responsible or liable for any incidental loss or damage to the entry/artwork and the entrant otherwise releases and indemnifies Council against any and all claims, liabilities, loss and costs incurred or in connection with the entry/artwork, except to the extent that such loss or damage is caused or contributed to by the negligent or wrongful act or omission of Council or that of its employees and agents.

    17. Adult artists must nominate if you want to enter the Mayor’s Choice Acquisitive Award. If entered, the maximum amount paid to the winner is $3,000. Liverpool City Council will not pay more than this nominated amount even if the artwork is valued above $3,000. By entering this award, you acknowledge that if won, the work will be acquired into the Liverpool City Council Collection.

    18. Adult artists must nominate if you want to enter the Maria Lock Acquisitive Award. If entered, the maximum amount paid to the winner is $2,000. Liverpool City Council will not pay more than this nominated amount even if the artwork is valued above $2,000. By entering this award, you acknowledge that if won, the work will be acquired into the Liverpool City Council Collection.

    19. The Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award is contingent on external funding. LP reserves the right to cancel the Prize entirely or change the award based on the funding outcome at any time. Please note at the time of this being written (entry form open date) that the funding confirmation is in progress but not yet confirmed. 

    You must nominate if you want to enter the Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award. The Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Prize winner must be 18 years of age or older at the close of registration. Proof of age may be required. The 2026 Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Prize winner will receive funds to develop and present an exhibition at Liverpool Powerhouse in 2027. This exhibition may occur in a shared exhibition space alongside another exhibition. This opportunity will include mentorship by a First Nations artist and/or curator. Mentorship and consultation with a Liverpool Powerhouse Curator is available, which will include, but is not limited to technical, curatorial and marketing support. The Prize is sponsored by individual/s and/or group/s and the exhibition support is provided by Liverpool Powerhouse. Previous winners of The Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Prize will not be eligible for the scholarship prize for the next five (5) annual exhibitions from the date of winning the prize (this includes when the scholarship prize was known as the Casula Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Prize).

    20. All submitted details on the registration form are final. Changes can NOT be made at delivery.

    21. Artworks to be collected on the date specified in KEY DATES. If you require a later pick up date, this must be arranged with LP Registration staff prior to the collection date. Artwork not collected on the collection date may be disposed of at the discretion of LP staff. Early pick up is not available.

    22. Artwork labels will be provided on artwork drop-off day and must be attached to the back of each artwork upon delivery to LP. LP staff will attach labels to artworks at time of delivery. Labels will match the description on the Artwork Entry Form and artwork delivered must correspond in description.

    The 2026 Liverpool Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award winner will receive funds to develop and present an exhibition in a shared exhibition space at Liverpool Powerhouse in 2027. This opportunity may include mentorship by a first nations artist and/or curator.
