Buying Your First Gun

Covering the things to consider when deciding what your first firearm should be. This class will focus on considerations for carry and/or home defense but will have info for firearms purchases for other uses. Will have an assortment of Firearms for people to handle and ask questions on features at the end. Will also cover some common questions in the purchasing process and criteria for purchasing a gun in Montana.

Class Requirements: Participants are encouraged to bring questions to class, and a notebook and pen for notes.

I understand that the “Buying Your First Firearm” class hosted by Gallatin Community Gun Club (GCGC) is an educational, lecture-based workshop that may include the handling of unloaded firearms for demonstration purposes only. I acknowledge that while no live ammunition will be present and no live fire will occur, the handling of firearms carries inherent risks, including but not limited to accidental injury resulting from improper handling, slips, trips, falls, or other unforeseen circumstances within the classroom environment. I voluntarily choose to participate in this activity and assume full responsibility for any risks, known or unknown, associated with my participation.*

Safety Rules & Participant Responsibility
I agree to follow all safety instructions provided by instructors and volunteers, including but not limited to: Treating all firearms as if they are loaded, Never pointing a firearm at anything I am not willing to destroy, Keeping my finger off the trigger unless instructed otherwise, Following all handling procedures and instructor guidance, and Immediately notifying an instructor if I feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Failure to follow safety instructions may result in my removal from the class without refund.*

In consideration of being allowed to participate in this class, I hereby release, waive, and discharge Gallatin Community Gun Club (GCGC), its board members, officers, instructors, volunteers, event hosts, partners, and representatives from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, or liability of any kind arising out of or related to my participation in this activity, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or loss, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.*

Medical Responsibility
I understand that GCGC does not provide medical insurance coverage for participants. I am responsible for any medical expenses incurred as a result of injury or illness arising from participation in this class.*

I grant permission to Gallatin Community Gun Club (GCGC) to photograph or record me during this class for educational, promotional, or informational purposes.

I understand that these images or recordings may be used in print, on the GCGC website, social media, marketing materials, or other communications without compensation.

I acknowledge that my participation is voluntary and that I may request not to be photographed or recorded by notifying instructors or staff prior to or during the event.

I release Gallatin Community Gun Club, its officers, instructors, volunteers, and affiliates from any claims related to the use of these images or recordings.
