Salary: Around $40/hour (Negotiable based on experience)
Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, some evenings or weekends may be required.

Role Overview
The Director of Operations ensures St. John the Baptist Parish runs with excellence and efficiency. This role balances high-level strategy and financial oversight with the "boots-on-the-ground" reality of facility management. You serve as the primary liaison for external partners and the guardian of our physical and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities
1. Business & Administrative Operations
- Strategic Support: Recognize and respect the ultimate authority of the Pastor; foster a spirit of collaboration and empowerment among parishioners and staff.
- Financial Oversight: Partner with the accounting firm to ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies. Lead the annual budgeting process in consultation with departments and the Finance Council.
- Administrative Record Keeping: Maintain an orderly filing system for confidential legal, personnel, payroll, and insurance records, as well as equipment manuals and contracts. Maintain the established relationship with Catholic Mutual and ensure compliance with OSHA, including annual filing.
- HR & Compliance: Recruit and supervise administrative staff and volunteers (Secretary, Money Counters, etc.). Work with the Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure all Archdiocesan policies are met. Maintain compliance with PACE/Prism insurance discount program.
- Communications: Act as a bridge between staff and volunteers to maintain high morale and teamwork. Serve as the parish liaison for media, security, and civil authorities (codes, variances, etc.).
- Development: Act as a resource and empower volunteers for school and parish fundraising projects.
2. Facilities & Grounds Management
- Long-Term Planning: Develop, manage, and implement a 10-year facilities plan. Document every facet of the physical plant for posterity.
- Inspections: Conduct regular walkthroughs to preemptively address maintenance needs and ensure daily "readiness."
- Project Management: Lead major repairs or renovations, acting as the primary liaison between the parish and contractors.
- Safety: Ensure the property strictly adheres to all environmental, health, safety, and fire code regulations.
- Snow Removal & Grass Cutting: Organize volunteers to maintain parish grounds, including the removal of snow in the winter months, cutting of grass, and any other maintenance projects as necessary.
- Cemeteries - Oversight of cemetery operations and volunteers, attendance at bi-annual meetings, record-keeping, and other items as needed.
3. Vendor & Efficiency Management
- Contracting: Negotiate, audit, and manage all third-party contracts (IT, Landscaping, Security, etc.).
- Optimization: Continuously review workflows to implement time-saving or cost-reducing improvements.
- Procurement: Oversee all equipment and supply purchasing to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Qualifications
- Faith: Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Experience: 5+ years in operations management, business administration, or facility oversight.
- Licensure: A valid Boiler’s License is desired but not required.
- Technical IQ: Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Willingness to get your hands dirty and do the work as needed.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational ability, self-starter mindset, and proficiency in vendor negotiation.
