• Stallholder EOI

  • Social Capital is seeking expressions of interest from local social enterprises to hold a stall at our markets held on the first Saturday of each month at 8 Hawdon Place in Dickson (next to Café Stepping Stone). Applications must be submitted at least seven days prior to the upcoming market to be considered for participation. As this is a new market, we're particularly keen to work with stallholders who are excited to help establish and grow a community-focused event.
  • Conditions of Application

  • A. Application Consideration

  • Submission of this form does not guarantee a stall offer. All applications will be carefully reviewed by the organising committee. By submitting this expression of interest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined in this document.
  • B. Additional Information

  • Applicants may be asked to provide further details about their products, operations, and social impact prior to a stall offer being made.
  • C. Selection and Notification

  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by a representative from Social Capital or the organising committee. Selection is at the sole discretion of the committee.
  • D. Eligibility Criteria

  • Only stallholders who can demonstrate a clear social impact (not general small businesses) will be considered. Eligible businesses must be driven by a public or community cause (e.g. social, environmental, cultural, or economic). Certification by Social Traders is welcomed but not required.
  • To protect the integrity and purpose of the market, the following products are not permitted:
    • mass-produced or factory-made goods without a social or environmental purpose
    • multi-level marketing or pyramid scheme products
    • items that conflict with Social Capital's mission (e.g. products promoting discrimination, hate, or environmental harm).
  • The organising committee may, at its discretion, support small start-up businesses by offering a time-limited opportunity to trial their first stalls at the For Purpose Market. This allows them to gain experience and build confidence in the Canberra market context. During this period, they must show some alignment with the market's social purpose, and if they later demonstrate clear social impact and meet the broader eligibility criteria, they may apply to become regular stallholders.
  • E. Hours of Operation

  • The markets operate from 10:00am-2:00pm. Stalls must be fully set up by 10:00am
and may not begin packing up before 2:00pm. Please note that attendance numbers
    cannot be guaranteed.
  • F. Venue and Facilities

  • Markets may be held inside or outside depending on weather conditions. Tables and chairs
will be provided. There is limited access to power at this site, so please indicate if you
    require power in your application.
  • Stallholders are expected to minimise waste and avoid single-use plastics where possible.
All packaging, cups, plates, and cutlery must be recyclable, compostable, or reusable.
Stallholders are responsible for managing and removing their own waste at the end of
    the market.
  • G. Insurance Requirements

  • All stallholders must hold current Public Liability Insurance with a minimum coverage of $10 million. Evidence of insurance is required at time of application (but if you don't have insurance, please contact us to discuss).

  • H. Work Health and Safety

  • Stallholders must comply with all applicable Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations
relevant to their business activities. If you are selling food or beverages, you must comply
with relevant local health regulations and hold current food handling permits or licenses.
  • I. Stall Fees

  • A flat fee of $30 per stall, per market, applies. This fee goes towards venue hire fees, marketing and communications, and insurance. An invoice will be provided prior to each market.

  • Stallholders are encouraged to actively promote their participation through their own
communication channels (e.g. social media, newsletters). Social Capital will also promote
the market and participating stallholders, but joint efforts will help grow this new
    community-focused event.
  • J. Event Cancellation

  • Social Capital reserves the right to cancel a market at any time. In such cases, stallholders
will not be entitled to claim for any loss or damage resulting from the cancellation.
  • If a stallholder is unable to attend a confirmed market, at least 72 hours' notice must be
provided. Late cancellations may forfeit stall fees.
