SDI Transfer of Ownership Application
  • SDI Transfer of Ownership Application

    2026
  • When acquiring a horse, the new owner or operator must, in addition to submitting the completed form, send the passport to SDI within 30 days of acquiring the animal.

It is your legal obligation to keep a copy of this declaration, which will be automatically emailed to you. SDI is required by Irish law to submit the information provided in this form to the DAFM Central Equine Database.

UK Owners: Owners of horses in Northern Ireland and Great Britain must have their equine entered into the UK Central Database before submitting the change of ownership to SDI. A post-Brexit agreement between the Irish and UK departments of agriculture established this procedure.
