  •  GOOD CLEANER'S GUIDE

    1.       Never leave client’s keys unattended and never put names, addresses or numbers on the key tags. Do use the customer keys only on the day of the cleaning visit.

    2.       Always remember to lock all doors and windows before leaving with all keys you have, unless otherwise specified by the Customer or Busy Hands Cleaners Team.

    3.       If you break or damage something, always inform Busy Hands Cleaners Team as soon as it happens, so we can deal with the situation straight away. Please also inform the Client immediately.

    4.       If you notice anything unusual (leak, damage, etc.) in customer premises, you must notify Busy Hands Cleaners Team immediately, so we can speak to the client right away.

    5.       When operating in customer property, you are not allowed to open the door to anyone (neighbour, relative, friend, builder, etc.), unless specifically instructed by the Client or Busy Hands Cleaners Team.

    6.       Never ask a relative or friend to stand in for you, as they will not be covered by insurance, and understandably clients don’t like it, ask yourself would you like a complete stranger to be alone in your home for a day.

    7.       Never throw away any material that may look like rubbish but it is not in the bins, even if it looks like rubbish. Always speak to the Client.

    8.       When cleaning house/flat top cooker hobs it is easy to brush up against a switch and turn it on accidentally, so do ensure the hobs are off before leaving the premises. Use only a soft sponge/cloth together with non-abrasive detergent, when cleaning the hobs to avoid scratching the surface.

    9.       Be careful when cleaning sinks and kitchen surfaces as they can mark or chip very easily, clients notice these things and some are extremely fussy. Never use abrasive cleaning fluids (like Bleach or bleach based) or cloths on any surface, do ask for an alternative.

    10.   Be careful not to leave any taps dripping, as this can become serious if the plug or cloth blocks the plughole. Make sure you always turn off all taps firmly and always remember to leave the plugs out.

    11.   Any specific surfaces like marble, granite, wood, etc., have to be cleaned with a specific product, provided by the Customer, and manner. If you are uncertain you must ask the Client and the office for instructions and guidance. The Client must ensure they provide the correct cleaning product and full instruction to the office in case of any such surfaces.

    12.   You cannot clean or do the specialized cleaning of any antique, delicate or valuable items, or clean items/ornaments of sentimental/irreplaceable value.

    13.   Remember the colour coding in using cleaning cloths & materials like a mop

    14.   You should not use Bleach to clean client’s property. You can only use it on toilets and only with explicit client’s permission. If the Client instructs you differently, call the office immediately for advice.

    15.   Never dispose of any clothes, toilet tissues, wipes, kitchen paper or other items/rubbish in clients’ toilets, to avoid blockage, etc.

    16.   If instructed to wash client’s clothes, never mix colours and always check labels to be sure which washing machine program to use. Be careful and do not wash items that are intended for dry clean only. Call the office and ask for instructions if hesitate.

    17.   Never wash wool jumpers, cardigans or similar items of clothing in the washing machine or put in the dryer!

    18.   If instructed to do the ironing, always check item label and iron at the appropriate temperature.

    19.   Remember to always switch off irons after you’ve used them and never place an iron flat down, even if it's switched off, always leave it upright.

    20.   Never use client’s computers, telephones or other personal items.

    21.   Never smoke in a client’s home, premises and never leave early before time.

    22.   If the client wishes to recommend you, this must be through the agency.

    23.   Respect client’s privacy and do not disclose any confidential information about the client to anyone outside Busy Hands Cleaners.

    24.   Do not accept offers to work for the client outside the agency (stealing the agency clients) as you will be breaking your contract. The agency will charge you a referral fee (details can be found in the cleaner’s handbook/contract).

    25.   Please give the agreed one month notice when you wish to go on holidays or wish to stop working for the agency. Leaving without the required notice costs the agency (more details on the cleaner’s handbook/contract). If you are unsure please contact us, we will answer any questions you have.
