    Chicken Curry Tamale

  • Contest Guidelines


    1. The contest is open (free) to all tamale fans in the Santa Barbara area.
    2. One entry per person, please.
    3. The entry may have meat or be meatless, vegetarian, vegan, savory or sweet.
    4. A recipe is not required.
    5. Ingredients need to be available locally.
    6. Your tamale entry must be different from any on our current menu.
    7. Judging: The contest judge is Richard Lambert, and the judging criteria
         is based 100% on creativity.
    8. Entries may be submitted through March 21st, and the winning entry
         will be announced on National Tamale Day, March 23rd.

  • Title and description of your tamale. Include all the main ingredients. Write the description of your tamale as you would for a restaurant menu.

    Chicken Curry Tamale. With spices at the heart of chicken curry, this tamale brings all the depth and warmth of more traditional tamales. Onion, garlic, and ginger, along with tomatoes, curry powder, yogurt and cream create a rich base for the chicken. Turmeric, coriander, and garam masala add an "East meets West" final touch that makes this tamale fun to eat.
