The Senior Portrait Project is a group of volunteers who donate senior photos to graduating seniors at New Legacy Charter School. The school has a mission to help parenting teens graduate (kids who have kids). 99% of the students are on Free and Reduced Lunch (meaning they all live below poverty level). The school provides resources and child care for parenting or pregnant teens while they earn their diploma.
If you haven’t participated before, photographers will work with 1-2 students. The goal is about 20-30 minutes per student, but you may be paired with two students at once. We hope to provide you with a volunteer serving as your photo assistant, and we ask that you deliver a fully-edited downloadable gallery of unwatermarked images to your student.
You do not have to retouch for acne, we will do that separately once they have chosen their favorite photo for print/yearbook. The Alliance of Professional Women (APW) will donate a set of prints to each student.
You will receive a model release for your student(s) so you may use the images in your portfolio.
We ask for at least ten and no more than 15 images per student in their gallery. Please edit generally true to color.
Portrait day is April 21st, and galleries are due to Willy by or before April 27th.
If you are able to participate, please fill out this sign up form.
More information will come to you once we approach the picture day.
Due to the large number of volunteers we get for this program, photographers will be selected based on past participation and experience with senior photography.
