SHOWCASE AND PROGRAM GUIDELINES:
BE AWARE THESE GUIDLINES HAVE CHANGED FOR 2027
1) Applicants will include in this application an appropriate headshot or band photo.
2) Applicants will submit a sample of their performing unless previously selected to perform in a Showcase, or as an Adult performer. NOTE: With regards to being accepted as a adult performer, applications to perform as an adult must be sent in via the Will McLean Festival Website as a separate application. Adult and Youth are two separate committies that approve performers.
3) Applicants must be 23 yrs of age or younger unless a member of your band is within the ages of 5 yrs to 23 yrs old, or you are an alumnus of the program.
4) Performer/band will receive a stipend. Amounts may vary from year to year. You must assign someone to sign your income tax form in order to receive your stipend. Tax forms will be on site at the festival. MAKE SURE YOU FILL ONE OUT AND HAND IN TO THE DIRECTOR OR YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR STIPEND.
5) Participants will attend the Mandatory Youth Meet and Greet Breakfast on Saturday morning at 9:57 am.
NOTE: PROCEDURES HAVE CHANGED: If you have not registered in person at the Ranch, near the Shooting Star Stage, and you are over 18 yrs old, and/or you are a minor(s) please bring your party to the registration area registration area by 9:17am to have your (your family) picture taken to attach to your registration form for safety purposes.
6) Band members must be approved ahead of time from those in your submitted application video/form. (We understand emergencies happen but if we need to make changes of member's names at the gate we have to know ahead of time as soon as possible.)
7) You agree to be at the Azaela Stage no later than 1/2 hour prior to your assigned set time, tuned, and ready for the stage crew and the MC. Though, it is highly encouraged for all Showcase Performers to attend the entire Showcase to encourage and support each other and set a good example to participants who want to perform someday.
8) Set times include on/off load times. Strick time limits must be adhered to, to assure everyone gets their appropriate time allotment and the sound techs can run the stage smoothly. You have 25 minutes for your set. You will set up as soon as the previous act has left the stage and end your set 5 minutes before the on hour or half-hour time on the stage clock. If you have a large band, please be aware of how long your set up time takes as the longer you set up the less time you have to play. Remember to be respectful to the sound techs as they are doing the best they can, just as you are when you perform.
9) There will be a minimum of 2 original songs included in your set. THIS IS A NEW REQUIREMENT created to encourage performers to step out of their comfort zone of cover songs.
