DECF Scholarship Application Form

Apply for the scholarship by submitting your information and required documents. Please complete all sections. Deadline: March 20, 2026.
CRITERIA AND REQUIREMENTS

1.             Be a graduating High School student from High School by June 2026.

2.             Must be a resident of the greater Houston area.

3.             Submit one letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher or Administrator.

4.             Provide one letter of recommendation from an organization you have volunteered for a least a minimum of 1 year of community service.

5.             Submit one 3x5 color headshot (This photo will not be returned).

6.             Submit high school transcript.

7.             Must have an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Essay Submission: “Why Community Service Is Important” Your essay must: • Include a title page with your first and last name, high school name, anticipated graduation date, and date of submission • Be typed in 12pt Arial or Times New Roman, double-spaced, and no more than 300 words • Be your original work (AI or plagiarism will be checked)*

- All applications will be reviewed by April 15, 2026
- Scholarship applicants who have advanced in the process will be notified by April 15, 2026.
- Applicant interviews with the scholarship committee will be completed during the month of April.
  - Must complete scheduled interview with Scholarship committee, if you advance to next round of the process.
- Scholarship award notifications will be completed by May 1, 2026.
  - If you are selected as a scholarship recipient you must provide proof of enrollment for college to the committee (Example: enrollment certificate, class schedule or fee schedule) before funds will be released.
