Expected Commitment
While serving as a SIG leader is a high-commitment opportunity, SIG projects vary widely and so does the amount of time commitment needed to participate. You can contact a current SIG leadership team for details about a particular SIG.
Leadership Responsibilities
The exact responsibilities of each role and the combined leadership team will vary by SIG, but in general, a SIG’s leadership team is responsible for:
- Promoting SIG engagement and communicating with the SIG membership.
Overseeing SIG activities and projects according to the SIG’s mission and vision statements.
- Working with the ISOQOL office and project volunteers to gain leadership approval or navigate submission processes for public-facing SIG projects (publications, symposia, etc.).
- Reviewing and updating the SIG’s mission and vision statements as needed.
Recruiting future SIG leadership and project volunteers.
- Maintaining continuity and institutional knowledge through leadership transitions.
- Developing the agenda for the in-person SIG meeting at the ISOQOL Annual Conference and ensuring that a SIG leader or other volunteer is present to lead the meeting.
