Thank you for your interest in the Peace of Mind Summer Institute on Friday, July 17, 2026 (9am-4:30pm) in Washington, DC. This is a full-day gathering for educators and school mental health professionals who want to experience the Peace of Mind curriculum as learners first, build confidence teaching it authentically, and join a cohort of peers who will support each other through the challenges and joys of this work.

    • NEW: This course is co-sponsored by the School Social Work Association of DC and is approved for 6 CEUs by the DC Board of Social Work.

      What to expect:

      • Experience mindfulness, brain science, conflict resolution, and social justice lessons as a learner
      • Build teaching confidence through demo lessons and adaptation strategies
      • Join a cohort that stays connected throughout 2026-27 as mentor teachers

Who should apply: Teachers, counselors, social workers, mental health professionals, and administrators currently teaching or preparing to teach Peace of Mind (PreK-8).

      What we're asking of you:

This isn't a one-day workshop, it's the beginning of a learning community. Here's what participation includes:

      Before July 17:

      Complete a brief pre-event survey
Join our Slack workspace to meet other participants
      Participate in community-building activities

      July 17 (required):

Full-day Summer Institute (9am-4:30pm) in Washington, DC
      Breakfast and lunch provided

      After July 17 (strongly encouraged):

      • Join the ongoing Peace of Mind educator cohort
      • Monthly virtual gatherings throughout 2026-27 (approximately 10 hours for the year)
      • For those interested: Serve as a mentor teacher with demonstration classroom access

We're looking for educators ready to be part of a learning community, not just attend a one-time event. While ongoing cohort participation is voluntary, we prioritize applicants who are prepared to stay connected.

      Capacity: 50 participants

Selection criteria: We're building a diverse cohort across grade levels (PreK-12) and educator roles. DC-based educators are prioritized due to grant requirements.

Cost: Free (thanks to DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities)

NEW Application deadline: Monday, May 11, 2026 at 11:59 PM
