Town Team Movement 'Festival of Doing' Travel Subsidy 

To ensure regional attendees are able to attend Town Town Movement’s ‘Festival of Doing’ event on 7-8 May 2026, we invite regional LGA’s and NFP’s in Western Australia to apply for a travel and accommodation subsidy thanks to support from Lotterywest. 

The travel award is targeted at volunteers and not-for-profit representatives who will benefit from attending the conference and have exhausted all travel funds and would not otherwise be able to attend.

Participants can apply for a travel award up to $1,000 in two categories:

Category 1: Regional & Remote Travel (more than 300km from the conference location) - up to $1,000 for travel costs including flights, petrol and/or accommodation
Category 2: Regional Travel (less than 300km from the conference location) - up to $750 for travel costs including petrol and/or accommodation

The Lotterywest subsidy is available to help cover travel (flights, bus, train or fuel expenses) and accommodation for regional LGA’s and NFP representatives to attend the event. Successful applicants are required to pay for their ticket registration to attend the forum. 

Application

1. Applicants must submit a brief professional statement (less than 400 words) that demonstrates the organisational representative attending the event has a strong relationship with placemaking and/or providing support to their local place
2. Applications must be submitted by a regional local LGA or NFP and provide contact information of the representative attending the event.
3. A budget outlining all travel costs to be included (for flights and accommodation proof of costs are to be included as supporting information i.e. purchase order, accommodation rates, flight costs, etc)
4. Confirmation of total travel distance required

Eligibility Criteria

• The application must be submitted by a LGA or not-for-profit organisation. 
• The nominated organisational representative must demonstrate a strong relationship with placemaking and/or providing support to their local place
• All applicants place of work or volunteering must be in regional Western Australia
• Awards can be claimed only for travel to and from the conference and all applications must be submitted atleast 15 days prior to the conference event date
• Awards cannot be issued in retrospect
• Casual, part-time and full-time volunteers and not-for-profit applicants are eligible to apply

Note - payments will be made by TTM for travel arrangement, or reimbursements upon proof of payment to the applicant organisation (LGA or NFP). Payments direct to individuals will not be supported.

Assessment Process

Applications will be reviewed by Town Team Movement within 5 working days from the date received and notification of outcome will occur within 10 working days.

Applications will be judged on the submitted professional statement (less than 400 words) based on the following criteria:

• On the quality of your statement and emphasis on the benefits to your local place and strong relationship with placemaking
• Evidence of financial need and associated costs
• Confirmation of total travel distance required

Limitations

• Travel reimbursements - will cover direct flight, bus or train from the applicant’s residential town to Perth and return.
• Fuel allowances - we offer to reimburse for the cost(s) of refuelling the car to travel to Perth and return. Where no fuel receipts are available, we will reimburse based on the ATO's cents per kilometre method of 0.88 cents per km.
• Fuel allowances (carpooling) - If multiple applicants from the same organisation are travelling from the same location via personal vehicle or rideshare, only one reimbursement cost will be covered.
• Accommodation - reasonable accommodation is up two nights’ accommodation
