Board of Commissioners District 5: Application to Fill Vacancy
The Van Buren County Board of Commissioners (Board) announces it is currently accepting letters of interest for their consideration to fill the vacancy left by the death of Randall Peat.

The Board is authorized by statute to fill the vacancy no later than thirty (30) days after Mr. Peat’s passing and will be effective upon appointment scheduled for March 10, 2026. The appointment is until a successor is elected at the November 3, 2026, General Election in the manner provided by law and qualifies for office.

Applicants shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age, reside in and be registered to vote in District 5, Van Buren County, Michigan. District 5 is comprised of:
- Antwerp Township Precinct 3
- Paw Paw Township Precinct 1
- Paw Paw Township Precinct 2
- Paw Paw Township Precinct 3
- Waverly Township except Bangor School District.
Please submit this application no later than 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 for your qualifications to be considered at the regular Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1 p.m.
