    • Election Process
    • Applications, including all required documentation, must be submitted by June 1, 2026. CDCESs can apply using this online application tool.

The CBDCE Professional Development Committee, made up of current and past Board members, interviews qualified CDCESs who have submitted applications. Qualified candidates will be contacted via email to complete a survey of board traits/competencies and identify a date and time for the interview. (Note: Applicants will want to add "@cbdce.org" as a safe send to their email address/contact list to ensure CBDCE email messages are received.)

For those chosen to interview, the interviews will take place July 16-17 and will be conducted using a video platform.

The individuals who are elected will be notified after the August 2026 Board meeting and begin their term of service on January 1, 2027. Though Board service officially begins in 2027, to support the onboarding experience, incoming Board members will need to plan to attend the November 12-14, 2026 Board meeting as guests.

The Board meets virtually in February and August, as well as having in-person meetings in the spring and fall. The in-person dates for 2027 are May 12-15 and November 10-12. The spring and fall meetings are 2-1/2 days. The spring 2027 meeting will be at a location to be determined, and the fall meeting will be in the Chicago-area, IL.

Please note that CBDCE pays for travel expenses for the in-person meetings including airfare, hotel and meals (as outlined in policies).
