ABOUT SILBERSALZ SCIENCE & MEDIA AWARDS
The Science & Media Awards recognize and celebrate the achievements of scientists who are working to solve many of today's challenges, and of filmmakers, artists, science communictors who fascinate and inspire audiences worldwide through their stories to promote science and evidence, advancing the public discussion around global issues.
Passionate about science communication and audiovisual?
We are now looking for scientists and media professionals from the international community to review the submission titles with their unique perspective and decide which productions are forwarded to the Finals for the Science & Media Awards Competition. This is a voluntary position, offering professionals the opportunity to support high-quality science communication and engage with international productions.
The judging panel involves both science and media professionals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to ensure a fair chance for all professionals, and unbiasied review for their storytelling, their presentation of scientific evidence, their public engagement quality and their relevance related to science and society.
The panel will be looking for original, scientifically relevant, creative stories at different lengths and formats that reflect one or more competition categories.

The Nominees will be announced in August 2026. The prizewinners will be celebrated together with prominent figures in science communication and global audience, during the SILBERSALZ Science & Media Festival (28 October - 01 November 2026) in Halle (Saale), Germany.
