[1] NYCA reserves the right to cancel a participant's registration and forfeit any fees paid if the participant or their guardian(s) engages in abusive, harmful, or disrespectful behavior towards NYCA coaches or staff. This includes but is not limited to verbal abuse, physical threats, or any other conduct that disrupts the learning environment or compromises the safety and well-being of others. [2] I understand that cancellations made one week prior to the New York State Chess Championship on March 8-9, 2025, will result in a credit towards future NYCA programs. To receive a refund for this credit, a $10 fee will be applied. No refunds will be issued for no-shows or late cancellations. I also agree to abide by all tournament rules and regulations. [3] I understand that New York State Scholastic Championship tournaments are public events. I hereby grant full permission to New York Chess Academy to use photographs, video- and/or audio-recordings of me, and/or my child participating in the tournament, taken during this event in publications, news releases, online, and in other communications that are deemed appropriate. I understand that neither I, nor my child, is entitled to compensation for their appearance in such materials. I release and discharge both parties from all liability, losses, and damages for libel, slander, invasion of privacy, or any other claim arising out of or relating to the use of videotapes, recordings, and/or photographs.
